Just home from the barn. Murph is 100% back to normal. No limping on that bruise, no stiffness, so stocking up, no 'heat', no nothing! I lunged him today. Did w/t/c. He was great. I've never met a horse that could lunge so good in my life. Cooled him out, put some absorbine on his leggies, and put him in his nice comfey stall.
I love how fuzzie he's getting. <3

Had a good ride yesterday. He was full of energy, and we worked up a sweat! Put a nice big comfey cooler on him and walked him out. Washed his legs 'cause they were quite muddy from the .. mud. Both Carla and myself took him for a ride in the arena. We used her saddle. It's amazing. I love it. And she has a sheepskin seat saver thingy. It's so comfey. And we used her gel pad as well. Not lame at all. I'm quite happy! Although he needs his feet done, and I'm not getting Mary to do them anymore. Kevin is coming out at the end of the month. Look like Murph is getting another break *rolls eyes* I don't wanna work him when his feet are long. Too hard on his tendons and such. Plus the fact that I don't wanna go flying over his head when he trips up in his own feet! haha. So anyway, I put iodine on his soles, stuck his magnetic boots on, and bandaged his hinds so he won't be all stocked up today. Plus some absorbine on his fronts just 'cause I'm nice.
The weather is pretty crappy today, so I don't think I'll be riding, but I might lunge him for 10 minutes or so. Just to get his joints and muscles moving.

Rode today. Didn't really 'work' on anything. Just did some walk/trot and did two circles in each direction at a trot at A and C. Cooled out, iodined him plus mag. boots & absorbine. I bought him a new cooler (it's Royal Blue) and a new half pad. I also bought myself some new SSG gloves and some of those purple horse shaver things for their face. I'm going to get some new pictures of him soon. Let him loose in the arena and snap some. I haven't taken any pics of him in a while now! Woot

Murph had his feet done yesterday, and they're in really good shape! I guess the biotin is doing him good! He's barefoot right now. I'm probably gonna keep him barefoot for the winter (unless he shows signs of diffuculty) but I doubt he will because he's only walking on snow. Pictures coming ... sooner or later. Hm, guess that's all for now.

Well, I was right. I expected Murph to be quite clumbsy in the snow, because I don't think he's been at a barn that doesn't have an indoor for a very long time (ever?). Today I took him out for a ride in the snow, and it was quite the sight. Haha. I'm sure he'll get used to it! All we did was walk and some trot, and I took him for a walk up the driveway and back again a couple times, then gave him a real good grooming. He really enjoyed that!
I found some weird bumps on him. They're like fly bites but it's obviously not because it's winter. They're scabby(not blood though, like puss? kinda?), and only on the left side of his neck. No where else. I know he was bitten on the left side of his neck(by another horse; not a bad bite) but that wouldn't have caused these weird scabs, could it? And he didn't have an allergic reaction because I haven't used any cleaning products on anything he's wearing lately, he hasn't had any penecillin. And it's not lice. It doesn't seem to be bothering him anyway.. He's not scratching it. And it kind of has a weird pattern. Like it's in a straight line going down his neck. Argh, I can't explain it very well. I'll get pics of him soon. I swear. haha.

I remember one time that Bugsie had something kinda like you explained. Like scabs on his chest and neck. He only had about 2 or 3. They were almost in circle shapes and about the size of a small marble and smaller. It wasnt bothering him either. We got the vet (Dr.Tweedy) out but he said that it was nothing to worry about and it ended up going away anyways! It didnt look like puss but it did kinda have a yellow look to it!

These werid scabs are still on his neck :\ I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I'll keep my eye on it anyway. Decided to get Murph a new turnout blanket as well. He only came to me with one blanket, and that's his stable blanket, so now he's getting a new cooler, and a new turnout blanket, just like his friend Skipper. It's black. I love it. 1200 deiner, waterproof, tail flap, shoulder gusset, and fleece around the withers.
