I rode Red yesterday, and he was decent. I don't think he's ready to be shown yet, but Im using it as a schooling experience, just to get him out in the ring, walk, jog and lope. We worked on loping large, on the rail, and worked on picking up the lead to the right, he has major troubles with it. He was a good boy though considering. Im heading down today with Maria and he's getting the ulitmate back treatment, and new shoes.

I rode Red today and he couldn't physically lope either direction. He'd pick it up for a stride or 2 and then buck buck buck, and power trot. I knew something was wrong right away. Kevin came down to shoe him and checked out his hocks, and they're very sore, and "dry". So, along with a sore back he has sore hocks too. Im heading to one rider in the morning to pick up some glucosimine for him. As it stands right now, Red is off for a while.

Little Red has been off for about 2 months now..I rode him a few times last week, just walk and jog and some light hill work. Dr.Anderson came down yesterday, and I had his two upper hock joints injected with Legend, and another anti inflammatory. Mel Grey is comming this week and he's getting 2 full treatments of massage. Sooo I am hoping.....over $500 later...that he'll be feeling alot better soon.
Im heading down to hand walk him for a little while now, so who knows maybe I'll see a slight difference. My fingers are crossed.

I hear that Legend is a great choice for that sort of thing. Hope your boy is feeling better soon.

Red looks to be a lot better, he loped around his feild today with his lover, Tango, for a while. Usually he only lopes if he has to, he prefer's trotting.
He had a 1 hour massage today with his favourite lady, Mel Grey. She pin pointed a few tense area's, on top of his neck just behind his poll, his shoulders, and his back. His back was really sore and tense on the right, I forget the exact name of what she was massaging.
She said he's more prone to tension in his neck and shoulders because he is a pretty high strung, nervous horse. It's like a person going around all hunched over all day.
Pretty neat. He has another session with her tomorrow, and I've learned some cool stretches and excercises to help him be more aware of his feet and legs. So, hopefully by next week hell be back to regular work. Fingers are crossed.

Iève ridden Red twice since he had his massage and hock in jections. He seems to be going good. I have been working only to the right, working on leg yeilding and circles as well as staying straight throughtransistions. We have also been going on short hacks because I think that will strenthen both sides of him equally. His left shoulder is way bigger then his right, Mel Grey pointed it out. She reccommended that I saddle him from the right side, as well as mount and dismount from the right side. So that is interesting!
The real test will be later on this week when we start working on loping! Steven Baret ( not sure if thats his last name) will be helping me out with him for a while, he starts riding him today!
