Well offer is still there, if you ever want to come down and ride him, he's pretty much ready to do the pattern, we're just working on turn on the forehand..he'd rather turn on his haunches haha.
Rode Red in a lesson on Friday, it went awesome, worked on turn on the forehand, and our lope, it was pretty intense, he was flicking his head alot, he hates the noseband I've been using on him. But he was getting the correct lead 9 out of 10 times, as opposed to 1 in 30 times. Soo Im pretty pleased with his progress!
Rode him on Saturday, had a bit of an audience! Red was pretty good, worked on our stop and back up, then turn on the haunches, and loping. I let one of my old students, Sarah Hickman ride him, and Kelsey also hopped on for a bit. Then I got back on and worked him a little more at the lope, we did some small slow circles, and worked on speed changes.
Gave him a day of ftoday, because I worked him really hard the past 2 days, and he's still pretty hairy!

I dont think they're related, Red is from the Krymsun bloodlines, and Nick is from the Impressive bloodilnes! Nick is also a full QH...and he is a big guy!

So, Red has been doing sooo good. His weight is back up and he's actually filled out a fair bit, his little chest is bigger then 2 inches now and he's starting to look mroe like a horse then a yearling! Finally!
We completed rider 3 successfully, Red was fantastic. He has TWO LEADS! He picks up both leads pretty much with ease now. Last time Mel was down for a clinic, she looked at his back and he had some stiffness and something going on with his vertebra, so she fixed it up, and taught me how to soak his back with Epsom salts, and to massage it after I ride. I've noticed such a difference in the shape of his bum, and back..it's unbelievable.
We've been working on simple lead changes, Red can change it up in less then 2 trot strides! His speed changes are amazing, and his stops are awesome. We're starting to spin now, they're coming along in leaps and bounds..he's so willing and loves to work!
Hopefully we'll be showing on Canada day!

I didn't get to ride Red on Monday, and he was inside, so when I rode him yesterday he was silly to say the least, Kelsey watched me ride and got a few pictures. ( Ahem Kelsey!!)
Started with a nice long warm up, did some over bending exercises and some straight line turns. Then worked on reversing, turn on the haunches off the rail, and turn on the forehand on the rail.
Picked up a working trot, did some circles, serpentines, change of rein etc. Went down to a jog, and went large, practiced one handed, and our stops along the rail. Jogged some circles both directions, then worked on a center circle for a bit, getting him nice anr ound and stretching down. Then went on to lope, left lead. He wasent too keen on picking it up, he's sitll getting used to the heavier bit I have in his mouth and he gets mad at it. But, got him going good, loped some circles, then we fenced a little bit to encourage him to get the right lead. Loped some right circles, practiced our stops. Then worked on Rollbacks. Our rundown's are a little wiggly, but other then that they're comming along great!
Went back to working trot, did some more serpentines, circles, and leg yielding, as well as some more overbending. He's a little dead to my leg to the right..he falls in and won't move back out. So we did lots of leg yeilding to the right.
Cooled out..and Red went in and had some lunch while I watched Erin, Vicky and Chelsey in the Mel Clinic, and tried to steal Mel's awesome hat.

I rode Red western yesterday, Susan gave me a few pointers, we worked mostly on loping to the right, that's his bad side. Worked on some leg yeilding, and just loping circles and downward transistions. Then Maria rode him walk jog for a bit, he was wiggley and full of energy! Then we tacked him up english, and Sarah P rode him for a bit, and tried him o/f, he was a super star! So, Sarah P is showing him in Walk trot crossrails! It's going to be very cute!
