Had my english lesson today , with Susan, who I might add is a great coach! We worked on keeping Red straight, he's pretty wiggley, and did walk, trot, aand canter. Then we worked over poles, and when he had that down pat, we moved on to a little crossrail. Go Red Go! It was fun, and Red loves to jump. So we popped over the crossrail a few times, and worked on comming out of thejump more forward, and straight! Susan thinks Red's a cutie I can't wait for our next lesson.Although it's pretty tricky taking a half green horse, and riding western for months and hardcore schooling to get rider 3 western, then going english one random day and jumping! I had everything mixed up! But all in all it was great

Rode Red again today, rode english! He was great, did loads of 20 m circles a tthe trot, practiced extending and collecting etc. and spiralling in and out on a circle. Moved onto canter circles, to the left then the right. It was great to the left, bu tto the right it was realllly hard to get his right lead...boo. Then we went back to trotting large and getting him to stretch out and use his butt. Then I tossed in some western-y stuff, and started practicing our turn on the hauncehes and forehand and our stops..haha
So, western ride tomorrow for sure!
edited to fix my english lingo..i had "jog" and "lope" typed in.

Thanks Vicky..he loves you haha.
Rode Red western today..I think I got the english out of my system for a while haha. Worked on walk/jog circles, also turn on the haunches. Then loped some left circles, and Erin made us lope to the right. Red was awesome, then did a few speed changes to the left, and worked a little on his stop which is gone to crap.. Then called it a day.

Natasha and me rode Reddy today, actually so did Biz haah.
Nat rode him first and warmed him up..and did walk/jog on a circle in both directions, then she practiced some stops, rein backs, and leg yeilding! Then I got on, worked on his lope,. and leg yeilding, aswell as his shitty rein back. Then I worked him some more on a circle, at the jog. Then Biz jumped on for a few minutes and palyed around.
Reddy was a very good boy, he gets better by the day!

I haven't riddden Red in about a week because I was dieing sick! Friday afternoon however, Pam Macenzie came and had a little visit with us! She said Red is actually a decent weight now, he could still gain about 40-60 lbs, but he's for the most part an ok weight. He has a bit of a hay belly now, but she said keep giving him all the hay he wants because eventually it'll fill in the little dip by his flank. We also started Red on 1/2 cup of Omolene twice a day, and bumped up his equi min, because I found out most horses get 3 scoops of equi min a day! She said Red was a little dehydrated, so she suggested adding a teaspoon of salt to his feed, and also put a cup of water over his grain. It was great, hopefully she'll make this an annual thing! It's great in the spring, because they're shedding so you can finally see if they're in good shape!

Rode Red yesterday, it was fantastic. Worked on a bit of bending, and straight line turns in the warm up, then went on to turn on the haunches, and leg yeilding. Jogged the quarter lines, leg yeilding onto them. Worked on ouur stop and back up. Then onto the lope, working on half to lope transistions, and loping circles. Red decided to fall down today, at the lope, in front of 15 people or so..his legs just kind of collapsed, and he fell on me and just layed there, I crawled away from him, afraid he'd roll on me or kick me in the head, and he just layed on the gruond, I thought he was really hurt. I pulled on his reins and he got up and shook himself off, I walkeed him a few steps, then hopped back on. Weird horse. Then Nat played around on him for a bit, did walk/jog, and some stops!

Wow, that must have been scary having Red fall, not only fall on you, but it appears to be for no real reason! Good thing neither of you got hurt! I'm thinking He was just showing off for the crowd of people. Pretending he was a western movie horse, a gun goes off and the horse does a trick where they lay down and pretend to be dead or hurt. I see a movie star in the making!!!

to continue from emily's post... emily like she said, got on first he hasnt been ridden in about a week i think, he was doing amazing walk, jog, lope...red did fall, it was like he lost his footing and just went down, but he didnt try and catch himself at all he let him self go, and he waited for em to get up first(i guess to see if mom is ok first), and then he got up, he was perfectly fine! em got back on and did a little more! then i got on... i did walk and jog. worked on my steering on circles(still wanna move him the english way) we did some leg yeilding and transitions!! red is a super star. i really enjoy western, i think i will end up training sid in western. can't wait til my next lesson on him=)!!

Thanks Nat, you do really good with him!
Vicky and me went to the barn today, did Erin's stalls, then got Red tacked up. Rode for a while, practiced walk/jog, the big scary door was opened, and there were cars driving by, so we just worked on staying calm and looking pretty. Worked on the rider 3 pattern for a bit, which is turn on the forehand, and haunches, stopping, backing, and halt-lope transistions etc. He did awesome!

Rode my darling Red today, he was awesome. Rode him in Erin's rawhide noseband again. Which works wonders! Warmed up stretching his nose to the ground, going large. Worked on some 20 m circles at the jog, practiced our stops and back ups. Loped to the left, and then to the right, which has come a LONG way. Worked on the rider 3 pattern, and accuracy! Then..more jogging circles, turn on the haunches and froehand..and cooled him out!
Fantastic Ride, we're doing rider 3 in about 2 weeks..wahoooo.

I love the rider 3 pattern, its cute and has everything packed together into one thing!
Its great you can do the levels on your horse, and build him up to the next level!
Good luck! I'm hoping to get mine too!
