Thought I would share that Cativa and I have been working a bunch lately and having some really good rides.
Unfortunately, on Friday, we had a weird accident and I ended up breaking my nose. I wont be able to ride for a while, but I am going to go back out next weekend (once school is over and my parents go home!) and start a lunging regimen, to keep her fitness going. I'll be using side reins to help work on her musculature, while I cant be on her back.

Oh I forgot:
We have a new exercise leg yeild (more like a rough version of haunches out) on a 20m circle, to really get her listening to my leg, as she tends to be a bit dead to my right aids.
I think this is a combination of her being a pain, and (mostly) my right side aids being not nearly as strong as my left side.
I'm working on this everytime we ride, and the leg yeilding is helping us as well!

Just got home from the barn!
I spent some time with Cativa, grooming her and reassuring her that everything is okay, as she is quite cautious right now. Tacked up and we walked around the arena (in hand) for fifteen minutes, before popping on and letting Sandra take us for a 10 minute pony ride.
We just walked around and did lots of breathing and relaxing exercises, to make Cativa feel comfortable. She is not worried, so much as nervous about ending up in the dirt again.
I am going to the barn again on Tuesday- Sandra is going to school her and then I am going to get on for another pony ride!
I am looking forward to getting some video of the schooling session!

We were all tired yesterday so no one rode, but I did free lunge Cativa over some cross rails ... lets just say it wasnt exactly graceful.
haha, I think she could get the hang of it but she is a fairly awkward jumper at the moment!
Going out tomorrow and friday- hoping Sandra will ride one or both days!

Rode today!
Well, actually, both Sandra and I rode! Sandra rode for 20 minutes first and Cativa was awesome. Sandra figured out some new "buttons" and so we worked on that when I got in the saddle.
I rode w/t for about fifteen minutes, worked on sitting back (rode in a dressage saddle for the first time in eons) and keeping my hands low, close together and super quiet - riding like this, cativa is a completely different horse!
My time at the barn is quickly coming to a close...I only have 2, maybe 3 more rides left.
Heart break!!!!
On the upside, we may have found a new saddle! The new girl at my barn is selling her dressage saddle and it fits cativa well, so I am going to check it out tomorrow when I go to ride- see what I think of it.

Back again. This morning at the barn was amazing. There were 4 of us girls plus Sandra, so we did all the chores in about 40 minutes and then got to riding! I went first .... Cativa was AMAZING. The new saddle is great, I love riding in it- just scoops me right up! We did a lot of relaxed trotting, transitions from w-t-w, and going from sitting to rising and maintaining tempo and rhythm. Things were going so well that she even volunteered some round! My abs are killing me, and my thighs hurt from the new position in my dressage saddle, but I have never been so thrilled about a ride in my life. If only I could bring her home with me to continue the trend. Speaking of... I think I may be staying 2 extra days in Ottawa, because of the moving truck situation, but thats okay because it means I will get more rides in. Yay! Sandra is also planning a going away barn family dinner for me. I'm going to miss them all so much Wont be at the barn until next week now. Will update again at that time.
