Since I am buying Champ at the end of the month and have already put a deposit on him, I'd like to start a training log. So here's the basic information on him. I've been riding him since I was 13 and he was a yearling(well, I wasn't riding him then, but I was halter training him.) That makes him 10. His mother was a Belgian/Quarter horse cross and his father was a quarter horse/Newfoundland pony/clydesdale cross. He's a 16.3 HH chestnut gelding. John Tee owned him at Seaside Stables for about 7 1/2 years I guess, where he was lead horse(and I was the trail guide leader.) I have ridden him every summer since he was saddle trained-and I was the first one on his back. Angela bought him for Equine Meadows almost 2 years ago and I rode him from Bay Bulls to Equine on a nearly 6 hour ride. So now that Mel is buying Prancer, I can finally buy my baby. He's w/t/c and jumps quite nicely. Angela thinks he'd be great in dressage(but dressage is so boring) and I think he's great for any thing over fences. He's a bomb proof trail horse- I can't wait to take him to the shows next year. Here's a pic of him on his first day at Equine Meadows. I will post another updated pic of him later with his mane all grown out.

Well I got out to ride today, finaly! He was excellent, as usual! We worked on not dropping his hip when he turns, so we worked mainly on a 20m circle, and a 3 loop serpintine. After that, we cooled out around the ponds That's about it, I was really tired, so we didn't do too much.
After I stuck on his blanket, I let him up by the trees while I took Bueno out of his paddock. I stuck him in and let him eat the rest of his breakfast. Hopefully I'll go out tomorrow, too!
Emfo and Champagne Casanova!!

Haha Becca, I'm glad you did though- if not I would have totally bombed the next command! I usually do so bad in that class, but this year Champ DOMINATED it- he got first at Avalon too! Now we have to move to amateur, which I am not ready for...
Em, I'm going away in November, and since you ride before lessons start anyways you can have a few extra lease rides if you want, just as long as it doesn't interfere with Angela.

I rode today, I was pretty lazy, and so was he Ange told us to work on left circles, but today we just worked on moving forward. It was kind of cramped, because we worked in the small arena, but considering, he was pretty good. At times, he was moving so little at a canter, it was really collected! I was beautiful, but not what I was asking for. In the end, he cantered 1 circle in each direction, and it was good. I'll keep you updated while you're gone, Kelly! Oh, I almost forgot, I tried on his new bridle! Fit perfectly! When I get a bit for it, I'll get some pictures.
