Hey, I had the best lesson ever with Maria ( I rode Dante, so that doesn't really belond in here). After that I rode Champ with Maria and Brandy, and he was soooo good- after Maria finished practicing her western level 3 pattern, she said I should try it on Champ. For his level of training it was practically perfect; he isn't a great horse with upward transitions, but he loped, and there was a definite speed change when we went into big circles, plus he did the turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches! Yay pony!

I've signed up for the Canada Day Show- Novice Hack and Hopeful Jumper for the English Day, and for Western we are doing the Command, Trail, Horsemanship, and Pleasure classes. We're so excited~ Rode tonight, and there was a course set up, all small crossrails, so we started practicing that. However, my big bruiser just steps over them, so I put them all up to verticals. He was so good- there were 5 jumps, and we did them as a course of 10 (twice each) at the trot. Then we tried it with some cantering. I'd love to say we cantered the whole thing but that would be a crazy lie! However, we cantered the line, the vertical on the long side, and the brush box on the diagnol(once.) the vertical on the other diagnol had only a bit of space to get straight though and he broke, then went over wiggly. We did the course 3 times, plus the practice we did prior, with us doing them in patterns of one or two. Right now I'm finding it hard to get him moving- he goes over the jump, fine, but there's no energy in it. Maybe we need to spend some time working on out enthusiasm But I think he'll be fine in the show, with the excitement and all.

He was really excited at the last show, so I wouldn't worry about it. For the show I'm in the English Walk Trot division. I'm really excited!! When I rode today (I used one of the lease rides I earned from Ange) I did a bit of jumping and worked on canter transitions. He's starting to step into them instead of running into them like a mentalcase He's doing really good with them so far!
