I never named Vaquero, he came from Quebec and was born with his name, being named after his father "Boggies Vaquero". Vaquero means "cowboy" in spanish. And his show name is "Flashy Vaquero" which he was also registered in, whish means "Flashy Cowboy"! I love his name!!

Hey everyone!! I haven't updated this in a while! Vaquero has been doing good! We've started the actual Parelli Home Study Level 1 thanks to Wanda for letting me have a lend of it! Vaquero's doing well so far (even though we haven't started a lot with it yet)! Tuesday night was a good night though! I did completly the opposite of what he thought I was going to do. I tacked him all up, brought him into the indoor arena, took off his saddle and bridle, and let him go. He just looked at me like, what the hell are you doing! Horses usually know our schedule : Groom, Tack, Ride, Untack, eat. So I did the complete oposite, I wanted to show Vaquero that it's not all about the work, and seeing as horses are VERY playful animals, that's what we did! I then took out 2 balls thats we had in our tackroom, and just played with him, we ran around, he learned that the ball wasn't a scary object, and was actually rolling it around the arena *so cute*! Loving the Parelli! So this is how Vaquero is doing, I'm hopefully going up tonight, so will take lots of pictures! See you all at the banquet ! Danielle and Vaquero <3

Aww... today was the boys first trail ride ever!! What a man, no spooks, just walked along the trails like the big man on campus! What a gentelman he was, and very cute!! We herd the sounds of a quad close by, and he didn't mind, he also didn't mind the water!! What a boy! I also got pictures of us soaken wet after the trail, seeing as it started to rain while we where on it (had to get pictures of babys first trail!) So I'll post them tomorrow!
Also, Vaquero gives out a humongous congrats to everyone who won awards last night! Also, to Mrs. Donna and Sarah Hayden on all their awards (and Donna as Horse of The Year)!! Congrats everyone!!

Thank you guys! Oooo man! Vaquero and I had an amazing lesson tonight!! Wooo!! We had a private with miss Rhonda Fiander! We started our warm up with lots of circles/straight lines at the walk, stretching his legs out. Then we started with our straight line turns (jog a straight line, halt, turn on the haunches, and jog again) getting him using his front. He was a pro at this, but a few times he got a bit ahead of himself, and tripped up ! Rhonda then set up a poll, and Vaquero and I had to trot, jog, then walk over the poll. This was working on both transitions, and also getting him slow, but making sure he's not dragging his feet, so the poll comes in for him to pick up his feet, which he is already good at, but we wanted to perfect! Afterwards, we worked on picking up our left lead. Rhonda gave us a new excerise to work with, and it was great. We had to walk the full way around the arena, stop halfway down the long side, push his hip to the inside, and then ask for the lope assertively, to make sure he picks it up on a dime! The first two times he had a few jogging steps (which let him say "haha, nope, I'm switchingback to the wrong lead!") But on our third and 4th trys, we got them spot on! Then we switch directions, loped to the right, which was perfect, then Rhonda let us walk around to give him a breather. We then worked on our neck rein, transition at the neck rein, and then worked on turn on the haunches. Afterwards we cooled out, I untacked him, brushed, and give him lots of treaties! What a wicked lesson! Well this is how Vaquero and I are doing Danielle and Vaquero <3

Oh my, I suck at keeping these! Well, Lacey Emily and Michelle came up to see pony man today! They all went for a little spin on him! They all did really well with him (see pictures by Michelle!). They all did w/j and then I hopped on him and did a bit of w/j and worked on our back-up with no rein. He was pretty lazy with that, but also very speedy today, which is usually not like him, but then again, he hasn't been worked in a few days. Well we had a wicked time, and Vaquero loves Emily and Michelle and Lacey ! I really have to keep up on this, Vaquero and I have been getting a few lessons recently, with both Suzanne and Rhonda, which where excellent, he's still being the little superstar he is <3! Well that's pretty much it, I have pictures of him and Kitt (his lover+Best friend) that I will post soon. Take care guys! Danielle and Vaquero <3

Well... we had quite the day!
I went up and got him out of the field... second time Kitt strolled away with him!! I then brought him down, groomed him, and then brought him in the arena to do some "bomb-proofing!" I started with taking out the big blue ball and a little orange soccer ball. I was bouncing them, rolling them at him, underhim, throwing them at him, absolutly EVERYTHING I could think of, and he was great! I then got a few pylons and flicked them everywhere, which he was also great with, and then I took out a sawdust bag, which at first he was like "OH MY GOD... It's going to EAT me!" Aha, he's such a tool! He soon after got used to it, and in the end I had him walking on it, so it was great. Next time I'm planning on taking up a tarp, and also a few baloons to pop. I'll let you know how that goes, and maybe take a few pictures!
Then Barb (owner of Ariel) came up, and Katrina and Tex also came up, and we all rode. Had an AMAZING ride. Excellent trainsition, BEAUTIFUL left lead pick ups, we FINALLY got it! We then cooled down with riding bare back, and just sitting there talking to Emily and Erica who where also riding there horsies bareback!
I then put him in his stall, groomed him, filled up his water bucket and quickly cleaned out his stall (I like to clean his stall every time I'm up there!) and put his blanket on, gave him his treats, and put him to bed! I love my horse so much, he's such a superstar! Well this is how we're doing.
Take care guys!
