I rode Lucas tonight. I couldn't take it any longer, I had to jump . I set up one jump on the long side and then another on the center point of a 20m circle at the end of the arena. First I jumped the jump on the long side to get Lucas in the jumping mood. Then I practiced jumping on a circle a few times. Then I put the two together, first jumping the jump on the long side and then cantered onto the jump on a circle. I had a really fun ride, I think Lucas enjoyed himself too

Lucas and I are going Christmas at clovelly event. Marah and Welty and myself and Lucas are doing a musical ride to Christmas music. Today was our first practice and was it ever fun ;D . First we picked out the music we'd use then we practiced walking/trotting side by side. It's pretty hard to keep side-by-side considering Lucas is only 15.2hh and Welty is 16hh and has a huge stride

After doing that Shannon (who is organizing all of this) explained the pattern to us. We practiced it in pieces at first then we tried the whole thing without music a few times. Then we tried it once with the music and called it a day. It's going to be really nice once we get it perfected. I have another practice one Tuesday so I'll update this then

I had a lesson on Saturday past. I worked on getting Lucas long and low. Liz had me do a couple of exercises. One exercise was I would half-halt on the outside rein then flex Lucas to the inside and then give both reins. This allowed Lucas to stretch down and stretch is back muscles. I then did the exercise on a 10m circle. I would half-halt and flex Lucas while on the circle and give when I finished the circle, allowing Lucas to stretch down on the long side.

We did a couple of pole exercises to get Lucas to engage his hind end and finished the lesson by jumping a couple of times on a circle

Had a jumping lesson today

To warm-up Liz had me canter over some poles, then she made trot over a vertical a couple of times. Then she made a vertical-oxer-vertical line and had me jump that. Lucas kept nicking the oxer with his front feet because I would jump ahead of him, throwing him off balance. So I practiced waiting for Lucas to "come to me" so I wouldn't jump ahead. I got a little better at it by the end of the lesson but it's still something I need to work on.

Lucas was fantastic tonight! I was very proud of my pony, he was a superstar. I have to laugh at him though, we were jumping 2'9 - 3' feet and he barely broke a sweat

Well I want to do the 2'3 jumpers, 2'6 hunters and probably jr. B eq (that's also 2'6). I'm not sure what Julia will be doing.

Nice! I think I may do the 2'3 jumpers as well. But I'm not sure if I'll do 2' or 2'6 hunter, just cause it IS my first show with Connor I'll probably end up doing 2' hunters FOR SURE and depending on what I feel like closer to the show season I may do the jumper class also. Probably not equation o/f if I have to jump 2'6, for the first show at least After I see how we do, we'll probably bump up the heights

He looked amazing in the pictures I saw on facebook.. I'm not jumper expert but his legs look a lot nicer ! His 'tuck' is coming along nice, he really puts them under him . And well you know I love him

I rode him in my lesson on friday(?) and he was AMAZING!!

Maria, I am might do the 2'3 jumpers on Billy because he can turn on a dime and he is very fast. Anything above 2'3 for a coarse I don't want to bring him in. I don't want to push it. I am doing my eq. on him though. Possibly the 2'6 on Lucas ♥

The reason why his tuck is nicer is Ashlyn, is because Lucas actually has to pick up his feet over the bigger jumps. He really just canters over the smaller jumps
Or maybe it's just his amazing new boots.. lol.

haha, it is sooooooooooo the boots! I alsways find I ride better when I am in tall boots and a dressage saddle. I think it's something about the mental part about looking good ;D

And Julia, your show seasn sounds like fun! So you'd do your equation 2'6 with Lucus? One question. Are you (and I mean you in general) allowed to do your 2' hunter course AND do 2'6 eqitiaton? "cause I THINK I would like to do that with connor for the first show.
