I had a jumping lesson today, since it was raining out we did the lesson in the indoor. After warming up I trotted a mini pole cross. The course went like this: broken line to quarter line and then rollback to first jump in quarter line. After trotting it a few times I cantered the pole course. Then Liz made the poles jumps. We jumped the quarter line a couple of times to get Lucas awake then I jumped the course. And that's what I did in my lesson today

Lucas and I went in the Lori Leblanc clinic this past weekend and had a blast. Lori was fantastic! I really liked the way she teaches and I learned a lot. Anyways this is what we did. On Saturday after warm up I first trotted on a 20m circle on one end on the circle was a x-rail on the other a plank pole thing (not sure what to call it ). We trotted the circle a couple of times both directions then we cantered it. After doing that Lori set up a line made up of a cross-rail to a cross rail bounce. I did the line a couple of times then cooled out. On Sunday we did quite a bit more jumping. After warm-up Lori had me trot down trot poles then trot over a x-rail. Then I had to canter the turn to the trot poles transition down to trot for the poles then when I finished the trot poles pick up canter to a x-rail oxer. Lori changed the x-rail oxer to a regular oxer after doing the exercise a few times. Then Lori set up a vertical and a plank jump with the including the trot pole to oxer exercise to make a mini course. I did the course a few times before cooling out.

Yep it was really good clinic! Today I fee lunged Lucas in the outdoor. He was full of beans! Lucas bucked and galloped around for a full 30 minutes. He also threw a few flyings in there, too bad he won't do those when I ride him . After I hopped on him bare back and walked around for a couple of minutes.

Thanks I rode Lucas today. After warming up I did a lot of trot figures and then I worked on simple changes through trot and walk. I also did some no stirrup work just for a change. I had the arena to myself which was really nice. All in all I had a good ride.

Today in my lesson I worked on jumping on an angle and jumping on a circle. First Liz had me trot and then canter over a pole across the diagonal M-X-K (X was where the pole was). Then she set up a vertical in the pole's place and I had to do the same thing. After Liz made me do an exercise where I would canter across the diagonal (M-X-K) over the vertical, switch Lucas's lead in the corner after K and then canter across the diagonal (F-X-H) over the vertical in the other direction. After doing that exercise Liz set up another vertical at E. What I would have do was circle over the vertical at E a few times and then go large. Then I would change rein change rein across the diagonal (M-X-K) over the other vertical go large again then make a circle and go and over the vertical at E again. I found this exercise really hard. It was a good lesson, just a little frustrating because I found it difficult. But hey now I have something to work on Here's a picture of where the letters I'm talking about are in an arena. The little lines represent where the verticals were. Thought I'd put this here because I'm not the best at explaining exercises

I haven't been out to the barn lately due to getting my 12 year old molars pulled out of my mouth... tons of fun . The last time I was at the barn I lunged Lucas with side reins and then hopped on for a couple of minutes. Lucas takes a little bit of convincing before you can get him to round and drop his head. Liz describes him as a rusty door hinge, you have play with it for a little while before you can get it to give. Except for the occasional lesson with Lynn, all I've been doing with Lucas over the summer is jumping. So he is a tad bit stiff in his jaw and doesn't really want to use his hind muscles. He'd much rather strung out and on the forehand

Thanks Julia I love my pony very much, even though I suspect he had a 2 by 4 put in his neck Last night I hopped on Lucas for a quick ride. There was a semi-private and another border riding so the indoor was tight for space. I did some no stirrup work w/t/c and then went over some trotting poles just to change things up. Then I took Lucas's saddle off and cooled out bareback
