The may show was a lot fun, even though I was super nervous . Lucas was a really good boy too. We got 3 firsts and one second place ribbon.

I had a lesson a couple of days ago. We worked a lot on my position. After warming up I tied my reins in a knot and rode around the arena with no hands, haha is was weird . I did posting trot with arms stuck like an airplane, and then with my hands on my head. I also did two-point with no reins. I didn't canter with no reins, that would be crazy

I un tied my reins and dropped my stirrups. I sat, posted and practiced two-point at the trot and then did some sitting canter. Then I picked my stirrups back up and practiced canter-trot trot-canter transitions.

I went for a hack with Julia and Billy on friday and I haven't ridden since then. That's all for now

haha back when I was your age we used to do w/t/c and jumping with no reins and/or no stirrups. The kids arent so crazy these days I guess

Had a jumping lesson today!!!
It was gorgeous out so I rode outside. When I got out int he outdoor I just walked around to warm up, after that I did some circles and leg yielding in the trot to get Lucas to wake-up and pay attention.

Liz set up some poles and I trotted over them in "flying two point" (I had my arms stuck out by my sides like and airplane). Lucas and I did that both directions and then we did it canter.
Then Liz set up a small bounce and we went over that a few times. I need to work on keeping my butt out of the saddle (it tends to bounce back in the saddle after Lucas lands), I think doing some bounces will help that

After that we did a line with a cross-rail and then a 2' vertical. Did that a few times and the vertical turned into an oxer. It was first time I ever jumped and oxer, I loved it! I can't wait for my next lesson, hopefully I'll be able to do one later this week, that's if my stupid exams don't get in the way I have few pics of my lesson, I'll post those later

Ok so today I had a lesson with Susan Q . After I warmed up we practiced walk-canter transitions. They were a little rocky at first (this was my fault) but they got better after a few trys. Then we went on a circle and worked collected, extended and regular trot and canter for bit.

We did some jumping after that. Susan set up a line made-up with 2 cross-rails. The first couple times I just trotted in and I was always late going into my two-point so I tried coming in at the canter. It was so much easier cantering in, I could count the striding and predict when Lucas was actually gonna take-off.

Then Susan set up a couple of plank jumps, one on a diagonal an another one the quarter line and changed one cross-rail in the line to a vertical, which together made a mini course. She had me do the mini course a couple of times and then I cooled out.

Had another jumping lesson on Sunday. After warming up we did some jumping on a circle and then did a couple of courses. Jumped 2'3 for the first time, was exciting

Then tonight I had a lunging lesson. Liz showed me how to lunge Lucas with side reins. I lunged both directions w/t/c for about half hour then I hopped on for 15 minutes. The side reins really got Lucas to stretch and he was a lot less stiff. I actually got him to go on the bit and track up and bend. I'll be lunging him with side reins a few times a week now so he doesn't get so stiff!

For next few days Lucas and I will be getting ready for the show. I can't wait until this weekend! ;D

I rode Lucas today, it's the first time since his accident on Sunday . For those of you didn't know Lucas stepped on a nail the day before the Canada show. The nail didn't go in very far and he had had his tetanus shot the week before, he was so lucky! He's pretty much all better now and I've got the ok to ride from the vet and Susan Q

Well anyways my ride today was amazing! After I warmed up I did a bit of trot work and Lucas started tracking up and right away. We did lots of diagonal lines, serpentines and circles then tried some leg-yielding.

Before I cooled out we worked on extended and collected trot. I only rode for a half-hour, I didn't want to push Lucas too much. I'm thinking about taking Lucas in the dressage show, hopefully we'll be ready for it!

Lucas sounds like he is doing great Jasmine, I am happy your boys hoof is better! He looked AMAZING when you rode him yesterday! As soon as you picked up your contact he droped his head! What a boy!
