Rode Lucas on Friday and Saturday and gave him a break today. On Friday I did w/t/c. Lots of trot/canter circles and lots other figures in trot/canter. I also jumped on Friday ;D . Susan was in the arena and offered to watch me jump the little oxer set up so I did. And that was my ride on Friday. Saturday I did lots more circles in both trot/canter. This time I did my circles in the middle of the arena so that the walls couldn't shape the circle. I also practiced my two-point. I gave Lucas the day off today, poor boy was almost everyday this week. Hopefully I'll be out again tomorrow

Went out to the barn today and rode. I was late for my riding time so I flicked Lucas over with a hard brush, picked out his feet and tacked up. I warmed Lucas up by walking/trotting large for about 30 minutes. Then worked on framing in the trot. Lucas has become a lot more supple and is easier to frame now. Did the same thing in canter for a bit too. Lucas was very energetic when I rode him, everything had to be checked out before he would walk past it . Snapped some pics of Lucas today too: Lucas in his stall before I rode Lucas with his cooler on after I rode Me and Lucas warming up

Thanks Nat I've been out of town for a couple of days so today was the first time I've seen Lucas this week. I let Lucas loose in the outdoor arena so he could run around. Lucas was full of beans , he galloped as fast as he could around the ring and bucked a few times. He also rolled in the mud... of course . Then I took him back in the barn and groomed him. I couldn't ride tonight but hopefully I will tomorrow

Had a flat lesson with Susan Q yesterday. First we worked on getting Lucas to frame in trot. It took a few minutes but Lucas finally relaxed and went into frame. He can't really hold his position yet because he doesn't have the muscles built up in his neck but that will come with time. Then we trotted a few serpentines, then we went on a circle 20m. Susan had me gradually circle in from the 20m to a 10m circle then gradually circle back out again. We did this several times. After that we worked on a bit of leg yielding. At first Lucas's shoulders would move faster than his haunches and he would over bend. But after a few tries we did a half-decent leg-yield and stopped after that. Then right before cooling out Susan set up a cross-rail and let me pop Lucas over since I haven't jumped in like a month . It was fun but my equitation was horrible and Lucas would pick up the wrong lead after the jump. Haha oh well, we'll work on that my next lesson .

^^ Haha thanks Elsabe and to answer your question Lucas and I haven't a problem with cantering in corners since the rider level testing last year.

So I've been on vacation for the past week and haven't seen my boy since last Tuesday! Today I went to the barn and took Lucas out of his stall. He was a mess of course . I put him on cross-ties and started to groom him. He was a little fidgety at first but settled down after a few minutes. I curried, then used the shedding blade on him, then I took a rag ran some hot water over it wrong it out and wiped it over Lucas to get all the trapped dust out of his fur. After that I picked out his feet and tacked up. My pony was full of energy (in a good way). He was very forward and was quite easy to get bending. I literally picked up contact with the bit and his head dropped down. Trotted some figures then I did some leg yielding on a circle. Just for fun I tried to get Lucas to collect his trot. He did pretty well considering we haven't really worked on it a whole lot. Then I cantered for tiny bit. Just a couple of circles and out large. Lucas slipped once in a deep spot but we were both ok so we just avoided that spot and kept going. Lucas was very good and I had a great ride. Brought him back to the cross-ties, flicked a soft brush over him (he wasn't sweaty or anything) and picked out his feet. My poor boy was pooped so I didn't groom any more than that.

Wow I haven't updated this in a long while! So Lucas and I had a lesson today with Julia and Billy. First we did some warm up walk and trot. I tried to get Lucas to loosen up and relax his neck and drop his head. he did after a few minutes. Then Liz had us drop our stirrups. We did some sitting trot, posting trot and two-point trot without them. After that we did some cantering. Practiced my sitting and half-seat and did a bit of hand-gallop too . Then we started jumping. We went over a little cross-rail to warm then did a small vertical. Liz set up a course and we jumped that too. It was only my second time doing a course, I loved it! I think Lucas enjoyed it too, he didn't want to stop going after we finished the course . My dad took a couple of pics of us jumping. Please excuse my equitation in some of the pictures, I'm still learning to jump

Awww thanks guys I had another lesson today, it's my last one before the show! We focused on flat-work since that's pretty much all I'm doing in this show. Warmed up by walking around the indoor a couple of times. Then I picked up the contact and walked 10m circles all over the ring to start to get Lucas rounder. Then I picked up the trot and did the same thing, just using 15m circles. After that I went on a 20m circle and worked on getting Lucas to round out his body and not just shift in his shoulders. It only took a few minutes for him to round out going in his better direction but on his other side it took quite a while. Then we worked on going from a nice round, almost collected trot to an extended trot then brining him back again. Lucas's upward transitions were pretty good, his downward ones weren't bad either but not as good as the upward ones. After that we did tried to do some "collected" canter and then some working canter. I had a really good lesson, hopefully I'm ready for the show. Ahh I can't wait ;D Jasmine
