Lucas is doing much better! I've ridden him a couple of times this week, just walk/trot and he was excellent! You wouldn't say he had hurt his foot about a week ago. I gave Lucas the day off today and bathed him. Then I grazed him for a little while after so the sun could dry him off

I'm not sure yet, depends on if I can get a dressage lesson in before the show. Anyways I had an awesome ride today! I rode outdoors since it was so warm outside and the indoor was like an oven. Lucas was still clean from his bath yesterday so I just flicked him over with a hard brush before I tacked him up. Once I was outside we just walked around a few minutes to warm. When Lucas was all warmed up I picked up the contact and started asking Lucas to bend. I think I finally figured how to half-halt properly, because when I started half-halting the outside rein Lucas started chewing his bit and a minute or so later dropped his head and started to bend. I walked around a for a good while trying to keep Lucas bending and chewing his bit. Then we started trotting. Did pretty much the same thing as I did in walk, just not as well . Lucas hadn't seemed stiff at all the last couple of times I had ridden him so today I tried a bit of canter. He was prefect! We did a really good walk-canter transition and Lucas was happy to canter around. We only went down half the long-side and did a circle before trotting but did it ever feel good to canter again. I was so excited, it was the first time I've cantered Lucas in like 2 weeks. After that we just did more trot work for a little while before cooling out.

PM'd you Arielle Had a dressage lesson with Susan today. We were gonna have it outside since it had been beautiful out, that is until Lucas and I went into the arena then it started to rain . So we moved inside and started the lesson. Susan had me put all of my weight into my legs so my butt was light in the saddle and pick up my hands (I tend to place too close to the saddle). We did a couple of walk circles where we fixed my position and then moved on to trot. That's when the real work began. For the majority of the lesson we worked on a 15m circle while I asked Lucas to bend and round out and use his back legs to push forward instead of falling on the forehand. Occasionally I'd do a figure 8 and switch directions. I got Lucas to come onto the bit, drop his head and round at the trot a couple of times before moving onto canter work. At the canter we just did a few circles and worked at keeping the canter steady. After cantering we did a bit more trot work before cooling out. By the time the lesson was over Lucas was covered in sweat and I was really tired too. After un-tacking I cold hosed Lucas off and let him graze a bit before putting him back in his stall. I'm still not sure if I'm gonna go in the clovelly dressage show, ahh I can't decide

I rode again today. It was gorgeous out so I rode outside. No one else was riding (which at clovelly happens like once in a blue moon) so I had the big outdoor to myself . Warmed up and then did a bit of trot work. Lucas really lazy so after I trotting for a couple of minutes I did some simple changes at the canter to wake him up a bit. Once he was awake we just did some more trot figures. There was a small vertical set up the arena so I decided to pop over it a couple of times. Every time Lucas took a good spot and went over the middle of the jump. I was so happy, it was the first time we jumped after Lucas's little incident. After that we did some more trot work then I just cooled out.

So me and Lucas ended up going in clovelly's dressage schooling show and surprisingly did really well. We ended up getting a 62 in the w/t A test, a 66 in the w/t B test, first place w/t dressage eq and w/t highpoint over all. Not to shabby for my first dressage show! Anyways I rode Lucas today. After warming worked on some w/t transitions to get Lucas to pay attention to me. After that did a few simple changed and canter figures. Then we practiced the w/t B test a couple of times before cooling out. Lucas and I are going in the dressage show this weekend and I'm super excited ;D . I can't wait to see everybody

Wow haven't updated in this a while . So me and Lucas went in the summer dance dressage show this weekend. It was a lot of fun and we ended up doing really well . In the w/t A test we placed 3rd, in the B test we placed 1st and in the dressage eq class we placed 1st. We ended up getting w/t highpoint and Lucas won a spiffy new halter . This was on the Saturday part of the show, Lucas and I didn't compete on Sunday. We're also going out to the GFS next weekend and we can't wait. For the past couple of days I've been practicing loading Lucas onto a trailer. Today Lucas was a super star and loaded onto the trailer in about 5 minutes. I was really impressed

Lucas and I went in the GFS this weekend and had a blast! It was so much fun and everybody was really nice. We ended up doing pretty well in our classes too. In avalon hunter got a 2nd a 4th and a 4th, then in my eq class we got 1st and finally in road hack we got 4th.
The day after the show we trailered out to my nan's house about an hour away from grand-falls (she has a barn and a couple of acres of pasture). For the past two days I've been going on hacks on the beach and riding around big grassy fields. We're trailering back to clovelly tomorrow. That's all for now.

lol thanks Maria ;D I had a jumping lesson today with Liz. After warming up w/t/c we worked on getting correct strides in a line. So what we did was we set up a 5 stride line and I had to try to get 5 strides. First we did it with poles, then we did it with one pole and than a vertical and then we did it with a vertical and then an plank oxer. I had a bit of a hard time getting the five strides with the two jumps because Lucas didn't like the look of the plank jump and would slow down right before it . Then we practiced roll-backs. We would go over the vertical to oxer line than after the oxer circle back and go over the vertical again. Sorry if that doesn't makes sense, I can't explain it all that well . After doing that a couple of times I did a course with the roll back in then I cooled out. I got a couple of pics, I still need to work on my eq a bit but that hopefully get better with some practice.
