Another day at Apple Hill.... Went up to the barn did my stall and brought in Cativa and Enzo. Groomed both of them and then Sandra tells me to get Luccichio in and groom him because I'm going to be riding him-- cool! So yeah, first I rode Cativa and she was HARD today. We havent done any trot work in like, two weeks so it was a tough "refresher" kind of ride. She was a good girl tho After I rode Cativa I got Lucci ready... I was a bit excited cause he is 16.3hh and I havent ridden a big horse like that since I was like...12. Anyway, I tacked him up in one of the dressage saddles and off we went. I had an AWESOME ride... Man. Lucci is wicked! He doesn't care about anything and we just ride him on the buckle! He is very bouncy so it took me some time to get used to but both Sandra and Christina said I rode him beautifully which is a pretty big deal- compliments arent given out to freely around Apple Hill. So yeah, I'm going to be riding Lucci fairly regularly now so that I can get my ass in to shape to train my horse... As for Enzo, he starts his month of training with Andre, the cowboy, either tomorrow or monday. Hopefully tomorrow so I can be there to watch. I will for sure take lots of videos. Woo hoo--- I'll be doing walk trot canter and leg yeilds on Enzo before Christmas. Awesome! Things are really taking shape, I'm so pumped for show season

Was at the barn for just two hours today... did some stalls and then brought horses in. We are having new crusher dust/gravel put down outside to deal with the mud, and Cativa didn't like it very much at all! She panicked when she walked on it, silly mare Anyway, brought the two of them in and then a girl (prolly a bit older than me) showed up and wanted to see Enzo! So we took him and Cativa and John out to the arena and free lunged for a bit. I got some videos so I will post them later this afternoon. Going to the barn on wednesday... will update then!

We'd (we being sandra, myself, christina.. all the gang) actually be really happy if Enzo found "his person"... although I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't miss him! He's such a good boy! He has had a full week with Andre now and is coming along well. He was really really nervous and upset the first day but now Andre is walking, woah-ing, steering and mounting/dismounting (no block) with very little issue. Next week (/tomorrow) its on to the trot! Hopefully I'll get to see Andre and Enzo on wednesday evening when I'm up to the barn. I will try and get some video or something. Today I went to the barn, did Cativa's stall and then got the two kids inside. I groomed Cativa, then did a few things for Sandra and then I tacked up! For the first 10 minutes I just walked Cat in hand because the snow was sliding off the roof and she was scared! Then I got on and we walked some more to let her settle down.... THEN we started our trotting! Cativa must have been super sooky/missing me a lot (I havent been up much in the past 2-3 weeks) because she was really really good. She got over the snow falling off the roof really quickly, and was ready to learn today. We worked on changing direction and general steering/going straight while trotting. She is coming along really really well I took a bunch of pictures of all the horses outside [some] with their blankies on.... I'm just uploading them to facebook now so I'll post them later tonight!

So I was up to the barn yesterday and had an awesome ride.
Cativa has officially learned how to change direction and keep trotting, haha! What an accomplishment.
She is being a very good girl lately and really enjoys working. she is also super brave and does not spook when the snow slides off the roof. Yay Pony!
Enzo has pulled a ham string and is off for another week or so.....
Tonight was the barn christmas party- it was a lot of fun and as usual Sandra cooked a LOT of delicious food. good times good times. Too bad it is so cold,
... - 14 - with wind chill its -23.
Brutal.
And its only gonna get colder!

so I havent been to the barn in almost a week- and haven't ridden in like, 10 days. Poor Cativa. I'm sure she is enjoying this time off... seeing as she really wont have to work until I get back to Ottawa in January after my christmas break! Today I was out to greenhawk... in -25 weather. Man was it ever cold standing and waiting for the bus to come! haha Anyway, I went out to pick up a couple things for people back home, and in the process I also got Cativa a new mane comb and the lavendar bell boots. She is going to be so cute I'm going up to the barn on Saturday. I plan on asking someone to take some pictures and video of me riding so that I can show everyone ... there hasnt been riding pictures since the beginning of September! Cativa and I are keeping our fingers (hooves?) crossed for a new dressage saddle for christmas... not sure if we're going to get it but it would be nice. I have a feeling there might just be a new half pad under the tree as well. yay! Pony will look so pro. In the mean time, we are getting a new horse this weekend so Enzo is moving out to the old barn for the time being... until Trigger goes out there or someone gets sold. The new horse is Caicos, a lovely percheron qh cross who actually looks like Goose, just smaller. There are some pictures and videos on facebook! thats all for now, I will update on saturday!

So I went up to the barn today... first time in nearly two weeks!
It was too cold again today to ride... we went out to breakfast and then went back to do all the stalls! After that I brought Cativa and Enzo in and gave them lots of christmas treats and really good grooming.
Cativa has grown again... I think she is an even 16.1hh right now. Maybe I'll measure her when I get back in January!
I wont see Cativa or Enzo now until January 8th. Enzo will hopefully be still in training and Cativa should start soon thereafter... yay!

So for Christmas Cativa got a gorgeous new weaver leather halter in the reddish Mohagany color, a new white saddle pad and a cherry likit! She also got her purple bell boots and mane comb, of course No dressage saddle because my parents didnt know what to buy.... maybe we will get that for my birthday or something in June. I have been talking to Emilie. Apparently Enzo is his happy cutie pie self but Cativa is cranky and moody... "misses her person"! I suppose she'll be all cuddly again when I go see her in a week. can't wait! I miss my poners!

So I FINALLY got up to the barn... its been a long time!
Cativa was happy to see me. She was all snuggly and cute. Her halter looks gorgeous on her and fits perfectly. I will try to get a picture on friday.
Enzo is awesome. He has grown a little bit (Cativa has too) and apparently he is doing quite well with Andre. Enzo is cantering! Sandra said he was being a very good boy.
Hopefully I'll get to see Andre ride Enzo soon. Maybe on friday afternoon when I am up. I should be riding Cativa that day.
Sunday Sandra is having everyone in for dinner again- woo barn parties!

Went up to the barn again last night. We didnt ride but we turned the horses out in the arena and played with them.... I got lots of pictures and videos that I'll upload later today. We also did sales video stuff of Enzo! Sandra was planning on videotaping Enzo being ridden by Andre either last night or today.
Hoping that I will get to see Andre ride today... woo hoo! Also, I'm riding this afternoon which should be interesting, haha!
Maybe someone will be around to get a video of the hilariousness.
I think Robyn is going to come up to the barn tomorrow.. should be fun!

Well, I rode today!!! We werent sure how good Cativa was goign to be because she hasnt been worked in a month or more, but she was a super star! The cats (we've gotten quite a collection, lately) were hanging out in the arena so she was a little nervous of that but we did lots of work on steering, trotting and changing rein. Her trot was FANTASTIC today. So nice and comfortable I love my pony! haha We had a crazy afternoon "de spooking" a lot of the horses, haha. It was a lot of fun getting to run around and act like an idiot with random things like sawdust bags, stall rakes, plastic chairs and stools etc. Tomorrow I'm going up around noon again and then we're having barn dinner. I'll be riding (maybe Robyn or someone will take videos because no one could when I was riding today) tomorow again so that should be fun! Sandra told me she is going to get Andre to do two weeks with Cativa- to polish her w/t and to finish her by putting on the canter work! Yahoo! This will happen during February, so its not long now!!

Okay so I was up to the barn for a long time on sunday! I didnt ride because we were despooking John and didnt have time. BUT I did spend lots of time grooming and playing with Cativa. a little later in the afternoon Robyn came out! We brought Enzo in and groomed him up so he was all handsome What a mannn! He really is gorgeous. After that I just puttered around and did some chores to help clean up. Then Emilie and Jenn showed up so we did turn in and fed the barn. Then we sat in the tack room, drooled over Emilie's new stubben crank w/ flash noseband, and chatted about everything horsey haha. Then we went up to the house and had a hilariously awesome time at the barn dinner. We watched the undersaddle video of Enzo!!! HOLY COW! Enzo looks awesome! I wish I could post it but it was taken on sandra's video camera and not my digital. Its pretty funny tho because Andre is riding in the dressage saddle which he isn't used to at ALL... and Enzo has awesome brakes (reining warmblood? hah! he almost did a slide at one point) so its funny to see Andre not expect the stop as soon as the word "woah" comes out of his mouth- he loses his balance. Hilarious. Anyway the video is really good I'm going up again tomorrow. Will be riding Cativa as per usual. Maybe Sandra will get some video or something. I'll bring my camera just in case!
