I forgot to update this. I went in on Tuesday, March 6th.

I brought in Amy's saddle to try it on her, it fits her to the most part.
I think I could do with a riser pad in the back though.
I never had any stirrup leathers or stirrup leathers with me and when I got there, Ashley was riding and I wanted to go too! So, I hopped on. No sturrips are totally fun. Although, we begged to differ back when we took riding lessons!
Sugar and I are getting closer. I think she actually gets happy when I go to see her. She normall doesn't take to people, but I'm determined to change that! 'Cause everyone loves me - y'know.

Interesting fact: Sugar doesn't like Candy Canes or Sugar Cubes. Silly girl!
Only eating healthy carrots and apples for her. I guess she watches her figure!

I'm on my way in now to do some riding with Ashley and Lugo man. I'll get some pictures : )

Well I went in today! Sugar was having a moody mare day But thats alright.
I got there and attached stirrups&leathers to the saddle and switched over bits onto my bridle.
When that was done, Ashley got there and we went and got our ponies.

Sugar was even crabby when I was brushing her - but y'know. We all have bad days.
We groomed, tacked up and went out. It was cold enough to freeze your nose off. But we're tough.

I worked on some walk-halt transitions toady. Did a little bit of trotting but like I said, it was a bad day.
She seems like she's really uncomfortable when she's trotting. I think she's just not used to gaits and whatnot. With her, it's stop, walk, GOFAST! Yes. haha. I'm just trying to convince her that riding is a GOOD thing, and trying to get her to like it. I don't think she's really confident with herself yet, she needs to get used to her footing and balance. She just needs some good work and some TLC! Awees.

Anywho, I'm going to try to go in tomorrow or Sunday again to see her and ride! YAY.

I went to the barn again today. When I left here I never really realized how windy it was!
But we got there and it was blowin' a hurricane. CRAZY. Anyways, Andrea & Myself brought Tyra & Sugar in for some TLC.

Sugar got a good groom. She wasn't half as cranky today as she was the other day! WOO!
So I got to give her a good and HAPPY groom then picked at her and bonded.

I think I'm going to start ground up with her. Taking her for walks and lots of grooming and loving. Just so we get that connection with each other. Then we're going to start some lunging to get those muscles moving again and get her back into shape.

I spoke to Jessicab and we were talking about her moodiness. It was suggested that she might just be bored in the ring. Because before she was used as a cutting horse, and nothing else, not a companion. But when she got here, Ashley used to ride her a lot, they had an excellent bond (I'm taking tips from her.. lol) And she was used as a beginner riding lesson horse (walk/trot). But Ashley aslo told me that she is a talented jumper. So that's my project for the summer : ) YAY.

We've got a lot of work to get done if we're gonna be good this summer
I wish they still had an indoor *pouts* oh well.

We had a very productive day today! It was really warm and sunny and nice!
First I groomed her down and gave her a good scratch with the curry comb and shedding blade! haha. She loved it. Then I saddled her and took her off to lunge her. She moved well for me. And now I can actually BELIEVE that she trots. haha. After lunging in both directions for a while, making her sweat a bit, I put on her bridle and then went riding.

She was MUCH better today. Ashley also put her boots on for me. So I think that made her happy. I think her front feet are really sensitive, so having her boots on helps her. Anyways, she was much more responsive. I really need a riser pad though - this weekend hopefully!

Oh and I cut my boots off! Haha. Just so you all don't laugh at me in the pictures.
New boots this weekend too YAY. (ps. Andrea, Ashley and myself are comming to St.John's on Saturday!)

Today was SUCCESSFUL!

I actually felt like we accomplished great things. The weather was beautiful, and the barn was buzzing with excitement.
Jean and John were there, working with Kjell. Trish was there, and Ashley, Andrea and Myself.
I got Sugar and she was ROTTEN, like the others. So we spent a good time grooming and playing around.
Then, Andrea was lunging, so I took Sugar for a walk. We jogged up and back the driveway a few times.
Worked with voice commands and halting and backing up (for those halter classes).
She was a DREAM. We played in the snow for a while. Then we lunged.

She was going great at the walk and trot, and then, CANTER.
Yes kids, this girl CAN canter. I was a little shocked at first too. But she can!
Beautiful mover, just needs to find her balance again, a few more lunging sessions like that, she'll be a star.

After that episode, I was EVER SO PLEASED, so I took her for a walk to treat her.
We went and chilled with the abandoned cows for a while, they wanted Sugar as a friend.
She wasn't having any of it. lol. Then we went for a walk down and up the drive. It was nice.

Now, a picture story.

We had a little adventure today. We went to get the horses and they weren't anywhere to be seen!

We asked the Cows, but all they said was "Moo."
Which reminds me! There are now THREE baby cows! But they were hiding so - no pics. : (

i am loving the old macs!!! I have collection of them ha..they r the best...Does sugar need them? or do u just put them on "just in case"?
Also where did u get your bitless? I am looking into getting one
