And I was just making a comment as well.
I shouldn't of said anything in the first place, because it's far to pointless, and im too lazy to type any more anyway. It's just the way your post came off which made me want to respond.

I t was always a thought to me that MAYBE it is possible that lice is always on the animal, but certain things causes it to react! There is a vet out here that also agrees with this statement, whether its true or not, I dont know! Anyways, thats all I got to say!

I'm just saying, that's all...that lice isn't such a huge deal that everyone makes it out to be, and it certainly doesn't neccessarly say anything about the quality of the barn because it can be caught anywhere. That's what I ment

I think I somewhat agree with you, I mean...maybe it's just certain conditions to allow the eggs to hatch or what not but yea, i'm interested as to all the places they can come from now.
Research timeeeee.

That's interesting! Let us know what you find out! I don't think they can passed from horses to humans though, does anyone know if this is true (and possibly why)?

No they can't. They're species oriented. It's even different then the lice of a cow. But some other animals likes sheep and stuff can catch it from horses. but humans can't! And I don't believe that it's always on the horse, and just hatches when exposed to certain things. That doesn't seem right :\ but you can believe it if you want to!

Ahhhh dont get me started on skin infections/ bugs / whatever. One of our ponies has a fungal infection and now we have to bathe our ENTIRE barn. It's annoying as heck.

I went to the barn today (May 13th) and He was sooo dirty, and clumps of hair were falling off him, and he just looked disgusting. So I put his pretty new halter on him (YAY IT FITS) and got to work! I groomed him for an HOUR and got all the gross clumps of hair off him, and the globs of poo, and made his mane look beautiful (it has potential. it's pure white, and very long). Then I painted his hooves (hoof lotion stuff) and cleaned out his nose, etc. I worked with his feet, and his back feet are fine, but he still, will not pick up his front feet. I don't know what it is. He gets so nervous even when anyone even touchs his legs with a hoof pick in their hand. but when i'm just grooming his legs, he's fine. then I put lice powder on him again. anyway, after making him look all pretty, mom wanted to go home, so I left him looking like a beautiful queen (I mean king) and he ran off to his friends. He looked soo good running off into the field with the sun going down, and his mane flowing in the wind haha. anyway, that was my day at the barn. Soon, after he gets his feet done, we're going to do more work with leading, and then maybe some lunging. maybe once a week? maybe. who knows. might wait till the end of the summer. oh and i'm deworming him soon. I just have to talk to Dr. Nikki first and see how much I have to give him, because i've never dewormed a foal before. anywho. happy trails ya'll.

im pretty sure beau has lice now actually. the barn he was at for a couple night the barn owner "forgot" to mention all her horses have lice, and lent me her tack and let me turn my horse out with hers for a few days.
ill be keeping beau to himself for a while and powdering him every second day or so. The ponies are kept next to like...200 cows though so it's not hard for them to catch down there..its not cause they arent taken care of

Went to the barn and got his hooves done today.. He is a pro at leading now, and he was fine getting his feet done. He's just a little lazy and decided to put ALL his weight on Amy and almost lid down haha .. he fell asleep on her back too . it was cute. lol I got some pics of one foal, but the batteries in my camera decided to die. Anywho, he's still for sale if anyone knows anyone who's interested.
