Badness! Is Maria's foot okay? If that girth still cannot be found next time, let me know. I should probably break down and buy a new one anyway, haha. Poor ol' Boone. Glad you had a good ride... I hope you guys were dressed warm! It is freezing out there this weekend!

ha! "transtions better!" ha! is what I say to that!!!! jkjkjk!!! actually, he was doing better, but I'd say a whole week with just w/t transitions, then we'd be better! I appreciate your so called non-swearing-your-head-off!!!! haha!!! But your right, he was kinda sucking up after he stepped on you!

I finaly got to ride today! I had an EXCELLENT ride today!!!! groomed/tacked-up, he was pretty good with tacking up today, instead of going really slowly, I just got it done with (talking about the saddle ) anyway, I was quite pleased I worked on transition (again), and he was AWSOME! warmed up walk. then with trot, we worked on listen to my leg (again) and each time I stoped at a halt, I waited a few seconds, and every time he would move, I'd add and extra 5 seconds or something. at first with everything, he was doing ok, but not the best. after awhile, he started REALLY listening, and foucsing I attempted a little bit of canter, and the first time I asked, he was not so great :/ second time, a little bit better, but then I made him halt for 30 seconds, and asked again! He was great!!!!!! only a few strides of foward (fast ) trot, and he went into canter! I was SOOOOO happy!!! Probably the best transition that I've ever done with him!!! CAN NOT WAIT TILL THE DRESSAGE SHOW!!! WHOOT! WHOOT!!!

for standing still exsersises, consintrate on your body. you may be tensing and not even notice it. i noticed with boone he's resposnive to that (NEA show.. him side passing when we where supposed to halt ) i tend to tense when im focusing really hard.. my old coach Jill forced me to sign mary had a little lamb or something stupid like that for me not to focus on things, and helps alot! also just take deep breaths when halting, and just give him his face haha sorry.. i adore this pony. glad your having great fun with him what classes are you doing in the dressage show?

Becca's right. Boone is really sensitive... if he anticipates going forward, he won't want to stand still. If he moves forward, back him up the same amount and wait again.
Glad you got to ride today!

Boone's short stride is the secret to not slipping! But yeah, studded shoes are the best. (Unless they are on your feet, right Maria?) I've went for winter hacks with Boone and never had a problem with the ice as long as those studs are on his feet.
