Woah I havn't posted in here for a while Well I rode today. First we warmed up and did basic w/t/c. Then we whent over a X-rail to warm him up over fences. After that we raised it to a 2' vertical. Did that a few times. He was really good! Then we did 2'3. He's been swirving to 1 side a lot.. like trying to get away from the jump. But we kept going at it and he finally did it in the center. THEN we raised it to 2'9. First he whent WAY to the side but still jumped, we aproached it agian and he did the same thing. But the 3rd time he jumped allmost in the center and he jumped it well so I thought I'd leave him at that! I LOVE jumping high. I am going to be riding Lucas time to time in my lessons so I can actually jump something more then sticks I actually rode Lucas in a lesson yesterday. I jumped him 2'. It was my first time jumping him though ... and the first time acxtually riding him in 6 months! well thats all for now! -Julia

Since Julia stole my pony for her lesson today I stole Billy and rode him I had such a fun ride. Liz left up the jumps from Julia's lesson so I could use them (which I did). There was one jump set up in the center of the arena at X then there were two other jumps set up on opposite diagonals. After warming up w/t/c I popped Billy over one of the jumps on going across the diagonal. To my surprise Billy did a flying over the jump, I was very proud. Then I jumped the other jump across the diagonal, did a rollback to the jump on the center line and then did a broken line to the other jump the diagonal. If that makes any sense I fooled around with different combinations of the three jumps before cooling out. Billy is a fantastic little jumper pony. He loves to go fast but he's so sturdy he can turn on a dime. He's also starting get the concept of flying changes. I may have to steal him from Julia to do the 2'3 jumpers this summer ;D

Rode Billy Bee today in my lesson. He was super! He tried really hard today and I was proud of my little pony Once we were warmed up Liz set up two lines. She first made me do the line in 4 strides just to get Billy awake. Then she made me do it in a balanced 5 strides. It was actually easy to get Billy to get the proper striding. There's less horse to control I guess lol. Liz came up with a mini course and had me jump it. First I would go over the first 5 stride line to the second five stride line. Then I would do a rollback to the first jump of the first 5 stride line. I would jump that and then go do the second line in the opposite direction. Billy got the striding right almost every time. If he didn't it was rider error.. oops . He would even switch his lead over the rollback fence. I was very pleased with Billykins today and I had a really good lesson

I rode Billy Bee this afternoon. I'm trying to install flying changes before show season so I worked on that. I set up a elevated pole right before a corner. I would go across the diagonal and ask Billy to switch his lead over the pole. I tried the exercise a couple of times and Billy wasn't really getting it. So I moved onto plan B. On the line from E to B I placed a pole in the middle. I would turn at E, canter over the pole and ask Billy to switch his lead while going over it and then canter straight to B. I made a little diagram because I suck at explaining exercise: Billy was much better at this exercise. On top of being on the wrong lead I think the sharp turn made him even more unbalanced so he felt he had to switch his lead. I would do figure 8's and Billy would switch his lead over the pole every time

Nice going! Kelsey showed me this exercise to do with Connor back in the summer, and I found it really good The only difference was that had the pole the other way, so I would come down at C at switch his lead on our way to A. I LOVED it!! So does this mean your showing Billy??

Yeah it's a great exercise, it works really well for Billy. If I can I want to take him in the 2'3 jumpers just for fun (I'm still going to be showing Lucas though). He's a speedy little guy, can turn on a dime and doesn't understand what the word "refuse" means so he'd make a great jumper pony. If I can prefect those flyings he'd have the whole package

lol Joan, besides me you are the only person to ride all 3 of our horses.
Just got back from the barn. Billy was amazing tonight! I set up a mini course made up of a serpentine.. if that makes sense. Well anyways when he needed to Billy would either switch his lead over the fence or do a flying without me asking every time! I put the jumps up to 2'6 (which is pretty high for Billy) and he jumped them beautifully. I had a fantastic ride!

No we only own two right now. We owned Norm (we're the ones that brought him down from Ontario, he came down with Lucas) but we sold him to Jessica last summer.
