Woo Barn update...I'll just make this quick because I'm starving! haha! Went to the barn around 10:45, did two stalls and then got the horses in. Groomed Cativa and tacked her up- used the Stubben again...yay nice saddle! We walked around the arena for a few minutes then Sandra boosted me on. We walked around with me holding the reins and Sandra leading a couple times. Then I put my feet in the stirrups! Cativa looked back at me at first, to see what was going on, but after that she was fine! We spent 20 minutes working on steering, woah and walk on. She now moves forward off my leg and is getting the hang of left and right, however it will take some more work! The plan is to start trotting on monday!!! Mom should be up avec the digital camera, so I'll have pictures and videos!!! With Enzo we just groomed, tacked and then did the usual- Sandra put Christina up on Jaye so Enzo could watch, and then she boosted me onto Enzo on my tummy. We walked around for about ten minutes- my abs were dying! hahaha Enzo's plan for monday is to try leg over the back. Hopefully he'll be a good boy

That's so exciting Gill - trotting! Cativa has come such a long way since you've been working with her, you must be a proud mommy. Enzo too, just in his own time!

I'm an insanely proud mom. I wish I was going to be here all summer, or able to bring her home with me because I love her SO much. and Enzo too- what a boy!
Okay so mom and I arent going up to the barn because we're both too busy with getting me ready to go home, and trying to prep for my exams/jury etc.
I'm going to ask if I can keep the digi cam for the next 2 weeks tho...so I can get pictures of the horses!

Well it is a sunny 22 degrees here today...so of COURSE I went to the barn We brought the horses in and I groomed Cativa first. When I was grooming, she KICKED me! I roared at her and smacked her in the stomach and she went and cowered in a corner. She got me pretty darn good- right in my calf muscle! My leg is more or less fine, but definitley sore and I'm gonna have a nice bruise. You can bet tho that she wont be doing that anymore! Snarky biatch. haha ...I love horses with a bit of attitude! Tacked up and took her out to the arena. Both Sandra and I had our digi cams today!! We got a LOT of pictures and are going to take more tomorrow and sunday. Unfortunately I dont have the loading dock to get the pics off the camera onto my comp, but tomorrow, Sandra is going to take my memory card and put it in her camera and then put the pictures on her computer and email them to me. Anyway! The Ride!!!! We did the usually, get on, stirrups, reins yadda yadda...walked around, practised steering and woah. We're trotting tomorrow! Did the same as usual with Enzo too-- just walked around with me on my stomach for about ten minutes. BRUTAL on my abs. haha Enzo cut his chin chin! Poor guy! He has a big gash! When we were done our work I got some water and a cloth and cleaned it all up...he stood quietly and waited while I did it! Good Boy Enzo! Tomorrow for Enzo we're doing "leg over" Alright! Pictures TOMORROW

Nah Enzo had beat himself up yesterday or the day before! He's a tough guy so he'll be fine in no time Forgot to mention in my earlier post that today Sandra and I were discussing me buying Cativa...that she's going to sell her to me for like, 3/4's the actual asking price, and that I can work off some of my board and if I start paying for her now I dont have to pay board until September. I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I'll have my girlie pretty soon

Sarah- its just a matter of sorting out the financial situation. And if I cant buy her right away I'm going to full lease her!!! Right now Sandra has a lot of her own horses and its really expensive to keep a bunch of horses around- especially the young ones who cant even earn their board by working in the school....so even just me full leasing Cativa would be a help. Update from today: It was really hot up here (about 25 degrees at the barn) today so we didnt do too much. We were supposed to do trotting today with Cativa but it was so warm the horses were sweating as soon as you put the tack on! We spent about 20 minutes just doing walk, halt and our steering. Cativa is doing veryyyyy well Got Enzo out next...today was a big day for the little man! We did leg over the back!!! haha he was better then we expected. I got on once and got off after a few minutes because he got jumpy and antsy, but then I got back on and we did leg over. All Enzo did was stand with his head in the air!!!! He was nervous but he wasnt killing anyone so we were happy! We walked a couple of steps and decided to leave it on a positive note. We arent pushing Enzo whatsoever, everything is absolute baby steps because we want to make sure we dont undo anything that we have already done! After we had played with the kids, I did my barn chores (cleaned Enzo's cut - its healing well!- and put hay out in the fields) and then went picture crazy! I even have a cute little video of Cativa eating her hay and sniffing my knee. Its pretty adorable. When Christina and I put the horses back outside for the night we had a mini photoshoot! She took some beautiful pictures of me holding Enzo and Cativa! She also got pictures of me with Cativa in the arena that are really nice too... I took pictures of her with John (her horse) and Jaye (the schoolie she rides a lot!) and then we went and took pictures of the horses in the field. Unfortunately my memory card doesnt go in Sandra's camera....so you guys wont be getting pictures/vids for another nine days Sorry!
