I jumped on Tuesday. Rocky was FULL of energy and just being a loser about it but we got past it and did some jumping anyways! Just something quick to get him thinking. I had poles on either side of the jump so he'd get his spots better. Though I'm having a lot of trouble getting him to get his left lead over the jump. He keeps switching!
Tonight I had a lesson and Andrew, being wonderful, pretty much video taped the whole thing. So I got to see how I'm doing. He's been doing that for the past little while and I'm really improving and now I just have a few things to work on. - getting out of the saddle more and giving a better release and - keeping Rocky round between jumps!
I can't wait for the schooling show, I hope he does well!

Jumped again today! (Friday was flat work and saturday too) Rocky was fabulous! We jumped out in the outdoor and he kept his cool! No rushing or anything! I'm so proud. He's still having trouble getting his spots but we're working on it! He is doing really well with his leads also! Here's a few pictures from the video!

Eeee! We have SO much work to do before the schooling show! You really don't realize how much there is to do when you don't have some kind of dead line!
I'm really, really excited just to show him off in the show (hopefully I'll be showing off his good side! haha) and then the clinic with Dennis!
I'm doing a lot of flatwork in my ride today! Working a lot on me! We'll see how it goes!

Rocky and I had a lesson with Susan yesterday. I thought it was going really horrible until I saw the video's my boyfriend took and I realized it wasn't so bad after all! Rocky and I had some issues with a line Susan had set up because he has a funny size stride. I just have to work on getting the right canter and keeping it through the line! I also got to ride Boy for like, two seconds! LOVE him! haha Here's a couple of pictures. (He went too deep to the base here)

Okay so I had a lesson with Sue last week and it went really well! We were jumping again but we started with a lot of flat work and working on asking Rocky for flyings! He does them from left to right but he's really sticky from right to left. I'm really proud of him!
Yesterday I had a lesson with Lynn! She's home! Sadly Rocky's back was a little sore, so we couldn't do a whole lot. We just worked on getting him round and stretching nice and low. He pretty much worked out of it, so hopefully he'll be fine for the show/clinic when I get home from vacation!!
I'm going to miss him so much!

Okay so Rocky and I did the Embarr show on Saturday! It was raining so we did the flat classes in the indoor. I was unprepared for having to ride inside (as I did all my riding outside) so we didn't do as well. He is so much different in the indoor especially with a lot of other horses around. We got a 5th in hack, 5th in pattern and a 3rd in equation!
Then after lunch we went outside to jump. I have never jumped an oxer with Rocky before the show. Oops! So we warmed up over the oxers to try to get a feel for them. So we did our first course and it went pretty well. He took a long spot over the first oxer and then refused the second one but went over it right after. So we got 2nd in our hunter course #1.
Then we did our second hunter course. It couldn't of went better (besides my eq but the rain didn't help that any)! Rocky got all his spots and didn't refuse or knock down anything! It was great! We ended up getting 1st in that class! I am so proud of him.
Then finally was the hunter under saddle and Rocky was such a gentleman so we placed 2nd!
Leaving us, in the end, with hunter high point for 2'3!! I'm so proud of him!! <3
Then the next two days were clinic with Dennis. The first day was pretty slack as he was just talking about some general things and he really had to help Julie Ann with Sabrina. But that was fine, it was still a good ride!! We just did a crossrail course and worked more on our position and straight lines. Oh yeah and we did some vertical bounces too!
Then yesterday we started with some real jumps! Once we warmed up we started going over a vertical in both directions. Then we moved onto doing different pieces of a course he had set up. It was a vertical to a 4 stride oxer to a 1 stride vertical but the hard part was that it was deep in the corner so the turn had to be pretty much perfect to get the rest of the line. Rocky refused the first jump once and then the second jump once but then we got it! After that we went to canter poles to a vertical and then down the outside line which was a vertical to a 5 stride oxer. Last but not least we finished by doing a roll back in the last line from the oxer to the vertical! Rocky did everything really well and I'm very proud of him!!
Dennis is coming back soon and I cannot wait to ride again!! We've made so much improvements!
