Tomorow I'm going to try this whole flexion and counter-flexion thing on prancer that I did in my lesson today. I find Brandy fairly dead to the leg so hopefully Prancer will be a bit easier.
After that we'll go back to our trotting 20m circles and figures, once I feel good enough about that we'll be moving onto canter work, so hopefully that will be soon!!

it's been a while since I rode Prancer in the ring. The last half dozen rides have been on the trail or in the field. I'm going to start in next week with ring work.
Mel, the flex and counter-flex work very well with Prancer- she's responsive to it and it makes her bend more in her circles and tuck her head in a bit. I did it with her for work up all winter long and she was great. I forgot all about it for a while though!

So, our pony girl had a bit of an accident n a trail ride and cut open the cushion of her heel, so she's relaxing until she heals up. She's coming along nicely though, she's no longer limping and let me pick up her hoof and pick it out with no complaints.
Once she's better I'm going to work on some of the stuff I've been doing in lessons on her, flexion and transitions, transitions, transitions.

So, It's been a week and Prancer is still sore. I attempted to ride her in my lesson but she was hurting too much so I rode Dante instead. Too bad, I could feel the energy practically bursting out of her for once, from not being ridden. When I asked her to trot she tried immediately but she was half pacing and half taking weight off her leg. She wanted to go but she couldn't =(.
Get better soon, pony girl.

Mel we have to start posting more in here or we're going to lose our record of most posts in the training log!! So hopefully Prancer isn't limping anymore, are you still riding her in your lesson today?

No, I had my lesson Monday. My leg's are were too sore to ride today, and mom and dad wouldn't bring me out to see Prancer =(. I want to have a western lesson on Prancer, I was supposed to have it today but parentals said no(because I had a lesson Monday). So I'm going to try to schedule my next lesson with someone who does ride western.
Are you riding her in the clinic?

Mel, yeah, Kelly is taking Prancer in the clinic.
I don't think you're going to be able to get a lesson with a class that does western. We only did the very basic stuff in our lesson yesterday and for you to go in someone's lesson who has been riding western for a while now, you'd be out of place. You're most likely going to have to wait until Karen and I want to do western again.

Prancer was obedient in the clinic yesterday and very sweet, but she kept pacing. then Sue said she looked a bit sore and suggested we put her on something so we can see if the pain goes away. My poor pony. I hope she doesn't have anything too bad wrong with her. Mel, me and you will have to give her extra attention now. I'm finishing the clinic on Brandy.

Kelly, I have NO problem with giving her -extra- attention. After you left I grazed her for about another hour then groomed her completely. I think the pain meds helped, she seemed pretty mellow.
