I need one of these to keep me motivated, so here it goes- Mel, feel free to post up your training here too!!
April 14th- We're starting our training together today to get ready for the shows. Mostly we were practicing 20 m circles at the trot and we did some canter large. I am trying to teach her to do spins by introducing turn on the haunches. She does one and then starts doing turn on the forehand. Everyday she gets a bit better at backing up, but I want her to take slightly longer steps. I also spent over an hour grooming her after my ride, and a half hour before to help get all the winter fuzz off. Then I went home and went for an hour walk(Prancers not the only one who needs to get in shape!)

That's pretty much what I'm going to be doing with her (trotting 20 m circles and having Maria or someone lunge us). We're working on our balance(which she really needs, haha) and getting her in shape! She's doing well on the lunge line, when Maria and I first tried it she was craaaaazy.

I won't forget!!! Woohoo, go trailride!!!!
Update: I rode today with Jess. Prancer was bad(but not as bad as yesterday when 3 people fell off of her.) She reared on me a few times and I spent a good bit of time kicking, but we lived through the experience. She wouldn't trot, then she wouldn't stay cantering. Then she wouldn' even move. Then Chantal got on her and she was great. Oh my

True that. Even the smallest accomlishments mean so much after trying so hard for so long!!! For example, being able to canter or even just trot a 20 m circle one day with Bella was the best feeling ever!
Keep up the hard work!

I'm going to start editing these posts so there are five or six days in each post. But I'm too lazy to do it now.
Update for today: I rode Prancer for an hour and she was better, but very lazy. Her trot was slow and she wasn't the most willing accomplice. We did some 20 m circles at the trot(which she did nicely) and then practiced our turn on the forehand. I think our current goal is IMPULSION. I ask her to trot, I ask her again, then I demand, then we fight and she gives in. I don't think that will gain us many points at a show. This week and next we are going to work on her moving forward when I ask.

So Prancer was alright after? I know she does move funny when she trots, but she looked weirder yesterday, but who knows, could have been just from where i as to! But its good that shes geting better!
I'm pretty positive she will Wake up from her Winter slacking on our trail ride, shes going to be like "OMG SUMMER" and she'll be flying, then whenever shes in the ring, hopefully, she'll be like wow, its summer, almost, and i finally get to go for a run every now and then, so id better be good! Hopefully! hopefully! anyway, see you today maybe!

In our last lesson we did a simple course on a 2loop serpentine and she was cracked and was fighting with me but I kicked her butt and made her do it =P. We didn't do it well but we did it!
And Kelly, whip that pony! She hates it and bucks but she'll speed up =P. I figured that out during our lunge lesson.

yup, no problem with the crop!! I had her going at a good canter last time I rode. I went up and spent some time giving her a massage and a good grooming today but never rode. It's her birthday- I figured I'd give her the morning off I'll be out tomorrow though!!! Mell, I can't wait til you lease her again!

Sunday we went on a trailride with Maria and Jessica and Julie and Prancer LOVED it! Everyone had a turn going for a gallop on her.
Monday we worked at a walk and trot on a 20 m circle, just practicing our bending and stuff. We also practiced walking faster, which is really boring but absolutely neccesary for Prancer, slowest horse in the world.
Tuesday (today) was beautiful out, and we worked on trotting and cantering 20 m circles, impulsion, and not falling over. She cantered over the poles that were originally set up for a course, but no jumping today. The best thing is, staring tomorrow we are back in lessons!! Yay!!
