I took sky for another ride by herself today and she did excellent again! We went w/t/c again and shes getting more use to cantering, shes relaxing a bit more. We did lots of work on giving to the bit at the walk and jog but she was resisting giving at the canter so that will need to be worked on a whole lot more! It was windy out today and she wasnt scared of anything today so it really does seem like shes realizing that nothing is going to eat her Once again it was a great ride and im very proud of how well she is doing lately

took sky for 2 trail rides the weekend! she was pretty good despite the fact that she was being a bit nervous of cars, which was strange because the rides before that she was excellent with them.
but today i took her for a ride and she was fine with cars when we were by the road, then i rode her for a bit in the field and worked on straight line turns and vertical flexion at the walk and she did pretty good after she realized she had to

i havent been updating this at all, we've ridden every weekend since the last update except now were switched back to western:) today we took star and sky for a trail ride for about an hour/hour and a half and sky did excellent, she was nervous around one car and that was it. she did well walk/jog/lope with no bucking, and she was exceptionally relaxed! i think its the most relaxed i have seen her. she got her xmas present (my bday present from my brother) today, down under horseman ship mecate reins+the slobber straps, and i absolutely LOVE them, best reins i've had yet! and sky seems to like them as well

We took the horses for another ride on Sunday and Sky did excellent! We went w/j/l and she is giving to the bit alot more at the jog, and she is pretty relaxed with everything i ask her to do. She is also stopping great as well! We went on the trails by the highway and she was very calm with all the cars passing, and she was great with transports passing by as well! Im very pleased with how she is comming along. She is not scared of much anymore, she goes through water and muddy water without star having to go first and she goes through new trails she hasnt done before without star having to go first. She doesnt kick up a fuss at all anymore when i ask her to do anything, and she has alot more respect on the ground. I am so proud of how far she has come because when i first got her it was so bad that she was frightened of her halter....

that makes me mad that she was that bad when you got her.. but you (and anyone else) can see the photos of everything she used to do when i owned her.. i say this all the time, but i'll say it again - SO happy she ended up being your "surprise" !! You've taken her so far and gave her another chance!!

Thanks Krista, im soooo glad I have her, for her well being and that she has taught me to never give up because she showed me that you can make a difference, it just takes a bit (a lot) of work. I don't even like to think about what would have happened to her if she was not sold because, she i could barely even lead her out of the barn she was at then:(

I took Sky for a ride today and she was great today! She was very willing today despite one little "i don't want to go any further" but after a few seconds and a little encouragement she was off! There is wayyyy wayyyyy wayyyy too much snow to be riding and i wont be riding again until some is gone! Too dangerous and i don't need to risk anything that can be preventable! SO until then i guess it will be groundwork and grooming lol

Finally no snow!! Ariana and I took the horses for a trail ride yesterday and while we were tacking up i was thinking of how awful the ride may end up with sky barely being ridden at all this winter, but she sure proved me wrong. She went w/j/l, but was nervous lopeing but no kick outs or bucks and i was extremly pleased with her. Today, my sister and I took the horses for a ride and sky was behaving extremly well. She went w/j/l and wasn't nervous at all at the lope. She was lopeing like she had done it a million times before being calm when really she use to always be really nervous, i was shocked how well she did

I took sky for another ride today, (my sister went along on star) and she was excellent! she went w/j/l in both directions. She was doing great with vertical flexion at the walk and jog, now to start working on the lope!

Haven't updated this in a while but ive been doing a fair bit of trail riding with sky. As well to get her use to someone besides me, my boyfriend who usually rides star rode her twice on sunday! She was EXCELLENT for him. It was 2 trail rides, through the river, past lawn mowers/quads/cars/transport trucks etc! She had one little scare and hopped to the side, be calmed down nicely! He now calls her "his horse" and wants to ride her from now on. Overall she has been doing great and is steadly progressing
