took sky out for a ride today with her new bit i bought from her neice echo and her new headstall from ruths tackshop lol she tacked up perfect, lowed her head nicely for bridleing then i was walking her around for about 5 minutes, then a big gust of wind came and she decided she didnt like that and bucked about 10 times... i stayed on for all of them and turned her in circles while she was still trying to buck, then i hopped down so she wouldnt take off with me, then once she realized nothing was going to eat her i hopped back on and we just walked for today, did, walking backing up, turning, and stopping and she did excellent with that. after about a half hour of working on all that i decided to leave it on a good note with no more spooks and call it a day. untacked her (the best she has ever unbridled was today!) and put her back with star. katie

took sky our for a ride this morning in the wind to see how she would do with that! when i had her saddled up and went to slip the halter off her face and down her nect to bridle her, she freaked out and took off bucking. it was like she had her fear of roped back, which i thought we were over, anyways when she realized nothing was eating her after a few bucks and star watching her be physco, she stopped and was walking around, i went over to her with the bridle, showed her it wasnt scary and she bridled perfectly, then i took her out for a little trail ride to the big field where i usually ride, and did walk/whoah/walking on transitions because it was windy and she was nervous, and i also did giving to the bit with her at the walk which she did EXCELLENT with! i also found that when she concentrating on something (giving to the bit) she is less spooky) after about a half hour of working on that i decided to leave the ride on a good note and head home! she did great on the little trail, and seemed more relaxed on it than she is in the open field. when we got home i untacked her (shes unbridleing excellently now.. she use to throw her head in the air when i would try to slide the bit out before, but i believe were over that now!) and turned her back out with star! (who was freaking out the whole time we were gone on our ride, trying to figure out where sky was ) haha

she did the same thing at the lisa tulk clinic i took her in when i went to put her halter down around her neck to bridle her.. had a little freak out/bucking fit in the arena.. that was the first and only time she did it though.. funny that she did the same thing with you after all this time cause that was over three years ago now..
awesome job with her though!!

I found it a little odd that she done it yesterday because she hadn't freaked out at anything rope like in a few months but once she realizes that whatever it is scares her isn't going to eat her she gets over it quickly so I'm glad about that haha! I forgot she was in the lisa clinic, that was 2007 right?

i think it was 2007? that was the only time she did that so i figured it was because she was in a new place and that was my first time bridling her in the arena, but i guess not...

skys cribbing collar came in today (miracle collar) and i just put it on her so we will see if this will stop the cribbing! but my guess is she will have the collar off and on the ground in some way or other by tomorrow morning! just because sky manages to get all her halters off in some way shape or form

the miracle collar is working wonderfuly!
today i took sky our for about a 40 minute ride and she did EXCELLENT i was very impressed with how relazed she was. we did walk/jog/whoa transitions and giving to the bit at the walk again, and she is learning to give to the bit very well. we also did a bit of backing up in with the walk/jogging and whoahing. overall it was the best ride we have had i believe! and i just cant get over how relaxed she was

sky did great today,
i lunged her for the first time since we had snow, i think at least haha. she did great with that, needs a bit more work going from a jog to a walk though
then i took her for a about 50 minute ride worked on the usual. walk/whoa transition, giving to the bit, which she does wonderfuly backing up and today i threw in straight line turns. she wasnt sure what i was asking her to do at first but after a few she had then down pat and did them every time i asked. she also bridles and unbridles like a dream now. overally i was VERY pleased with how she was today
