Thought i should keep one of these for Midnight!

August 9:
Midnight gets here, shes pretty nervous/scared. But loved her ears rubbed. She still listened well when we walked her.

August 11:
First time riding Midnight, she was doing so good there we thought we could get some fat off her today ;p. She listened well, and didn't mind being saddled. We think she may have started her cycle today as well.

August 12:
Midnight is perfect, loved to be groomed today, nothing wrong at all.

August 13:
Funniest thing, when we got there, she scratched her butt all along the fence lol, it was pretty funny . After she did that, we think I fly bit her and she wasn't expecting it, and she ran off and kicked her hind legs. It may have been a coincidence, but she ran away when I brought out the halter and lead, but she really doesn't mind the halter. She came right back though and she didn't care that we put the halter on her.

August 14:
Came to us right away when we got there. Didn't mind the halter, loved being groomed. We got some fly spray for her today, because we couldn't find any until today. She didn't like it around her face though, but I can understand that . She seemed happier that the flies were gone (; We brought out the saddle and she got pretty upset, we let her sniff it and she kept going in the opposite direction where we were trying to put it on her. Once it was on, she was fine, never flinched when we were tightning it. SHe was a bit stubborn when we rode her, we kept a tight rein. She always wanted to go back to the fence, cause she knows thats where the treats are haha, but we kept turning her around.

August 15:
She came to us when we arrived. When I tried to tie her on to groom her, i thought she tried to nip at me, but i ignored it, cause i thought she probably just moved her head or something. Then, my sister was grooming her and she nipped her on the back (it left a small bruise). We didn't know if she was trying to groom her back, or she was starting to think she was the boss. She was fine after that, my sister was a bit nervous around her after that, but she was fine with saddling, and riding, and she listened well.

August 16:
Midnight was perfect today, she saddled and listened verryy well. She was really energetic, always wanted to gallop or canter. Some friends are coming tomorrow to make sure Midnight isn't getting the idea she is the boss LOL. (:

August 17:
Our friends came and they did a reaallyy good job with Midnight. As usual, Midnight was an angel. They did bit pressure with her, and used a training halter, etc.

August 19:
My friend came out with me to see Midnight, She was sooo perfect. Really energetic again, she wanted to canter the whole time.

August 21:
My friend and I went out to see Midnight again. We rode her for about and 1 and a half, and worked her hard for the last half of that. I had sooo much fun, she galloped and i loved it. We got her some hay, and she liked that waay more than the pasture.. weird ;p

August 22:
We decided that today we would take Midnight outside the gate, for a walk on the road (: . She was mega excited, her eyes were wide open and she sniffed everytthingg lol. We brought her in the barn to check it out for the first time, and when we brought her in the indoor arena, she started to roll haha, that was the first time i saw her roll, it was soo cute (:. Today I noticed she didn't really want to turn left, so everytime she tried to turn right instead, i backed her up and made sure she would turn left! And she did, just took a bit of practice, i think she was more used to turning right then left! We left her outside during the storm, there was no wind, and a bit of rain, and there is tons of trees for shelter if she didn't like the rain.

August 25:
ITs been a while since i have seen Midnight, but i get to stay out allll weekend (: yayy! i rode her this morning, going out again when dad gets here. She was lazy today because its warm, so we did a bit of riding, and we are gonna ride after supper cause it will be colder. We combed out her frizzy mane, it looks ALOT better now . She did better with the left turns today, i used leg pressure and that worked better. I wanna teach her how to jump, and i wanna learn how to jump. maybe that will be my fall project (:.

okay, well thats everything up until today.. i don't know if this is a training log, but its just to update on Midnight's progess here!

Sounds like you haveing fun with her. where did you get her? she is very pretty. keep up the progress and she will be a good horse. Have you ever jumped a horse before? If not Make sure you ask someone with lots of experience to help you, it can be very dangerous learning to jump with out help, let alone trying to train the horse to jump at the same time!!!!!

August 26: Did the same w/t/c all around the field. I trotted and walked her in circles, and tried to use leg pressure to get her used to that. She did really well. She was really energetic again today, so the canter back to the fence was pretty fun ;p .

August 27: Went out early this morning to ride. I brought her for a ride outside the gate, to see how she would react, because once she is put with other horses, she will have to walk that route all the time. She got really excited and anxious, so she had a bit of a hard time listening. Don't blame her, cause there's alot of cows and horses a bit further up the road. So i just went for a little ride. After i got back, she was really pumped lol, so when i turned her around to go back to the fence, i just gave her a little kick and she took off in a flat out gallop. It was reeallyy fun haha. Then this afternoon, I got on her bareback for the first time. I wasn't long getting off though, I felt so weird not having stirrups to put my feet in lol, but she did good with bareback. The just before i left, i was gonna give her a pet on the ears, but she was headed to get some food, so when she stopped i petted her, and she nudged me out of the way. And i was like excuse me? hahaha it was funny, so then i was like fine i won't rub your ears. and then i went outside the gate to go home and she neighed haha, it was pretty cute. So, that was my day today and yesterday (:

Aug 28-Sept 2:

Nothing neeww, same w/t/c back and fourth. I got on her bareback for the first time, I thought I was going to fall off, but I didn't lol. It was really fun though. Midnight will soon be going in the barn (at the end of this month maybe?) so trying to get her lots of exercise before winter and before school starts. Going out again today to ride.

Thought I Should add some things about Midnight:

Breed: Shes a Percheron/Appaloosa

Color: Black, with dark brown spots on her back, and a white patch on her forehead

Here is from whenever I was out last lol (2 or 3 days agoo?)

We saddled her up, and she was ALWAYS trying to bite us. We gave her a litte tap on the neck because that was the only thing we could do because we couldn't back her up or anything. My pop came and she opened her mouth to him , and as a child he was really ruff with horses so he gave her a pretty hard smack on the neck, just wonderingg, is there anything else you can do to be the boss? Like instead of smacking because I don't like that at all..... She was really contrary, and I took her in serpintines and she lost her temper and took off, I stopped her and backed her up to where she was before she took off. Gonna have to do some more ground work with her I guess, training halter is gonna have to be used again.

Any suggestions on what to do next time? Nothing rude lol, im still learning..

My Father and Grandfather would have done the same smack in the neck or mouth! I have smacked in the neck ,but this needs to be dealt with now before she gets nasty! I tend to yell that loud when a horse tries to bite me i scare the shit out of them!lol But thats my loud deep voice! But it seems to be when you are tighting the girth, there is no sores or scratches under there? She also could be testing you,but welcome to the world of owning a mare! The being in Cycle doesnt help either! Good Luck!

Septmeber 13-14:

On the 13th, we went for a 5 km trail ride through corn fields again. She didn't want to go very far , but she is pretty dang fat so she needed the exercise LOL. It was a good day , she seems to HATE having people mount her, even more than she hates saddling.. do you think that this is just her being contrary? there was no mane hooked in the saddle or anything.. once when tried to get up to tried to take off, so i got someone to hold on to her. Other than that, she was perfect!

On the 14th, she was kinda contrary, she didn't want to do anything but sleep. But she listened under saddle and everything, and we rode her double ! (: .. i almost fell off , but it was pretty cool lol. Same problem, she hated the mounting. Oh yeah , and she is mega scared of a paper bag up in the trees, she spooks almost everytime she sees it! I can't reach it because its too high up, so im just hoping for some wind to blow it down..

Oh myy , i hate school , i can't spend anytime except on weekends out to the barn :/

For the saddling and mounting problems, I´d have her back checked just to make sure she don´t have any problems going on there.

If there is no problems in the back she is probably just not wanting to work thats why mounting her she acts up! They will let you know if they dont want to work but remember you are the boss!!!

Okay soo nothing neew at all.

Ummm from the last post up until noow , she has been introduced to the new horses for the first time. They stay in the barn alot now. She was pretty excited. She was the boss for a week or soo , but then another horse took over I guess. I wasn't out but my pop told me what was happening. Seems she is out of her field i ride her in the arena noow , i like it actually. Im trying to get her used to going around barrels. She's pretty good at it, just knocks them over sometimes.

No more mounting problems, i can actually get up with anyone holding on. Shes doing soo much better over the last couple weeks. She reeally loves being with the other horses! She has a few new best friends now. I have a volleyball tournament this weekend, so sadly i won't be out this weekend, but im probably going to get pop to go out and ride her for a bitt.

okay , well thats all thats new.. i will post some new pictures soon.

October 25:

I went out yesterday for a bit. She was in the barn and she was doing very well with the other horses. We took her out in the arena for a bit, & she was listening very well considering the other horses were right there. She has come such a long way since she got here 2 months ago! thats all really. I just w/t/c around the arena for a bit, and she did great.
