Seems to me there were a pile of Clinics this weekend and a show? I would like to hear how everyone found their clinics, what they learned and what approaches were used.. Also what was the scoop with the reining show? And was there a small jumper show as well? Or were those pics from elsewhere.?

I attended the Jim Durling clinic at Cache Rapid Stables in Deer Lake. It was a great weekend. Jim was great, worked on whatever the rider asked of him. He was also honest with us in letting us know when our ambitions were a little lofty! lol He was very easy to learn from, motivated riders with positive feedback, and treated each rider and horse individually.

I thought Jim Durling was great. He was also super with the younger riders and explained things in a way they could understand as well as explaining why you do things a certain way. He used a cordless microphone for the clinic so the other participants could hear and learn from the lessons of the other riders. The parents learned almost as much as their children. One parent told me she had such a good time, she did not want to go home. One rider completed her Western Rider 2 and eight completed their Western Rider 1.
We have Jim booked at Cache Rapids Stable again for a Clinic and Western Schooling Show on July 26-27 and for another Western Riding Clinic on August 29th to 31st.

We had a Mona Lewis clinic. All I can say is amazing. That lady can teach. She just explains stuff in such an awesome way. I'd do any clinic with her any time. Both her and Jim are excellent!

Were both clinics reining clinics? or pleasure focused or just what you needed to work on with your horse?

Jim Durling was awesome. He knows how to push you and do so in a way so that u succeed. He pushes in a posative way so u feel great at the end of the session and u don't feel stupid. He is not at all negative and really knows horses. He makes thing very easy to understand and will give u an explaination for everything he tells u to do.He is great!!!!

I'm so glad to hear all the West Coast-ers enjoyed Jim, he's really awesome, I've always taken a lot from his clinics and can't wait to ride with him again.
That being said, I went in the Mona clinic this weekend and it was AWESOME. My horse came up lame on Saturday so I rode a little mare that I helped start but hadn't really ridden in a year or so. The horse was fantastic and Mona was beyond awesome. I'm pretty much mind-blown, the concepts and the exercises seemed so simple but really highlighted for me the issues I have in my way of training and the issues that I create for my horse with my bad habits. It's definitley made me stop and re-evaluate the way I ride and the way I train, and I figure if you can say that about any clinic you ride in, you've gotten more than your money's worth.
ETA: The reining show went well, there were only about half a dozen competitors but it was coupled with a small schooling show in the afternoon. Everyone seemed to have fun and I think it was really a good warm up for show season as it gave everyone an opportunity to see where the holes were and fix them before the REIN shows get started.
