Hey well it's just as well for me to start a training log ! I had a Leason last Tuesday . I stayed in the graden (feild) and Kelley made we stay near a certain area and made a square . I worked on my trot with star like always and kelley made me go in a circle at trot . Then while stay at a trotwith star Kelley went a found some ol' wood and bricks lying around and made a quick jump and me and star walked over it a few times then at trot then once we went over the jump a few times at walk and trot then went at canter a few times and we went over the jumps . It was only a few inches high haha ! Star was perfect ;D !!! It was the best leason ever and hoping to go tommorow if the weather works out fine ! This time were making more jumps and hopfully they will stay in there spot lol ! NOTE If you don't have any help ful advicekeep it to your self or pm me plz

AH, that sounds awesome! It's always so much fun when you first start jumping, even if it is only a few inches. The first time I jumped was by accident- Champ jumped over a ditch while I was ponying another horse and nearly ripped my arm out- but it was still pretty exhilerating! You should post some pictures of Star so we can admire him He looks handsome in your signature- is he a Newfie?

Well Star is my pony who i get leasons on right now and boy oh boy he is a ladys man .There is a horse that borads there and he makes sure that Trigger (the borader) Stays away from precious (the soon to be mamma) haha, i think he;s around 14.something i'll check next time i don't know that info about him ... They say he is a old thing but i think he's only young cause he has a spirt of a 12 year old haha ... ... The whole reasons They named him star is because he has a star on his head ... He is a black nfld pony .HE can be stuborn sometimes and he loved being in the barn..The owners of star had his mother also . Star had alot of crazy times in the past ...hes been chases by a mosse, a crazy horse, ber coyote and has got in a fight with a bear and guess who won ...Star cause the bear ran away haha . Then while they where all gone some where one of there neighbours Thought there was a mosse in the garden where the horses so they phoned a guy to tell him to shot the moose so it would't hurt the horse so they shot it but thank gawd it never went through no now he has a bullett in him but it doesn' hurt and they can't get it out ! So thats star... And i havn't had any leasons ever scince saturday ! First time riding ... MY other siggy of star ... Silly goose he sits in a funny way haha Star and his funky hair cut ... ANd just start being star...

Ah, what a babe! One of the first horses I rode was a Newfoundland Pony named Prince, he was 33 and I was 11. I thought he was the greatest thing on 4 legs, and used to drive him in his little wagon to raise money for the NL Pony Society...
Keep up the lessons, looks like you got a great pony there to learn with!

Don't listen to people saying your too big for him. I'm 5'6" and 140 pounds and I used to ride a 14.3 hh pony and show and jump him. Also, as Gill said she used to ride a 13.3hh pony. People just like to complain. Keep up the good work and remember, It's better to go slow and learn right, then too fast and learn wrong.
