Ashlyn: If you would like me to write a letter advising your neighbours that Domino does not bite or kick, I would be happy to do so. I would feel quite comfortable leaving my 6 year old neice in the pasture or paddock or stall with him unsupervised. He is just so quiet.
Perhaps Kirby could build a privacy fence between your property and your neighbours, so that their children can not have access to the horse. You might have to wait until Kirby gets home again when the frost gets out of the ground, but it might be an alternative that you can negotiate with your neighbours before Kirby goes away to work again. How glad I am that I don't have neighbours.

I definitely agree with Ruth! Ruth, owning/looking after close to 40 horses, could have quite the impact on their opinions. She is the owner of a stable that has kids around(especially mass amounts during the summer) all year round. I think that if they are willing to take this into consideration, then you'd be all set! And the privacy fence is again a great idea! You could also put up signs to "keep out of horse pasture" so that it could encourage them not to go running in with him. It will be very unfortunate for you to have to board him out that far away all the time! I hope things work out for you, you couldn't have found a better horse, and he couldn't have found a better owner! my fingers are crossed for you! Good Luck!

People are so stupid. We had this guy walk across our feild one day with a kid to see thehorses. We were working on the barn so he could have easily came over and asked permission, but he didn't. my dog literally chased him off the property, then he started giving us hard looks because the dog went after him. Luckily my neighbors are great and are helpful when the horses get out etc. Ashlyn, your neighbors are being unreasonable. They are responsible for their kids, not you.

That's what he says. That's not what he cares about. The kids NEVER venture down unless I am there and I tell them they can come down and pet him because I am there. He's mad because they can't come play on our property, because they used to. We never did want them here but they had no reason to listen before. But he'll see. Anyway, news is, we are selling the house and buying new land and a new house. So Domino will be moving back as soon as our house is done, hopefully by summer !

I finally took him for a ride today. ;D Well first, I just let him graze. I usually take him out in my huge front lawn and put him on a lead line, but today I decided to take it off him and see what happened. As I expected, he didn't move. Of course I stayed with him, but he was perfect. Me and Kirby saddled him up, and I rode him over the road and a dirt road. Two moving cards passed him and about 4 barking dogs, he didn't flinch. He was being stubborn, but his bit is bothering him I think. I'm soon ordering him in a sweet iron/copper snaffle. Kirby took him for a spin too, I love my boy. He's going back tomorrow though. Pictures are being posted soon !

Well at least the summer isn't to far away and you know that you'll get him home with you soon! Until then you know he'll be in a great place with lots of loving people.
