*** I changed the name. It used to be Paddy's training Log***
Well since I am leasing Paddy i decided to start a temporary training log for him. So far since i've leased him i have jumped a crossrail and vertical course in my first ever lesson with him. Also on one of my Lease days he almost bucked me off. Today i went to the barn with Julia and I brang him in from the feild and groom him till he was spick and span! Next i tacked up and brought him to the indoor arena. Then i started to warm him up and after a while i canterd him. I'm starting to have problems with him as he won't stear in canter, all he does is stay on the track but when i ask him to do a 20m circle in canter he raises his head up as high as he can and will not stear at all. Kelsey came into the middle of the ring with a crop in her hand. But he would just doge her and keep raising his head. He did this on Wednesday aswell. I tried to circle him about 20 times but he just won't turn! Any advice?? Well after my ride i cuddled him, groomed him, fed him some treats and put him away in his stall for the night.

Try asking him to come off the rail in walk then trot and finally canter. You'll have more control if he's going slower. Also, dont forget to use your legs to KICK!!
I know how paddy can somtimes go into autopilot when he's going around the arena!!

I had a lesson yesterday with Biz. When I first went to get him out of his stall he was liying there and I urged him to get up and it was as he was saying "Awww just 5 more minutes i just got comfy" But he had to get up and he was being kinda grumpy. When i had tacked him up and warmed him up we worked on transitions and keeping him forward. He is usually lazy and just is in the lesson because he has to be but i kept him forward and he decided that he would make me proud and he started to try and power walk . After some walk/halt transitions biz asked us to pick up our trot and do afew 20m circles. When i first asked him to do a trot circle he did more of a dimondy shape but when i asked him to do another 20m circle he did it perfectly. He was being so good that Biz asked me to do some canter circles... and since he knew i was the boss from the trot circles he did them easily in canter. After about 20 minutes of doing a canter a circle... walking a circle... cantering a circle etc we did some leg yeilding. Paddy tried with all his heart to do leg yeilds with his short little legs and he didn't do that bad of a job! I cooled him out and untacked and put him in his stall for the night.

Went up to the barn again yesterday and groomed Paddy and tacked him up and rode him outside. Today i worked on 20m circles in walk, trot and canter. He was really good in walk and trot but in canter he did rectangles After i cooled him out went inside the barn, untacked and put him in his stall.

On Saturday i went up to the barn and hung around for a while before bringing Paddy in. When i brought him in i groomed and tacked up. It was 2786755764 degreese(sp) out and i only rode for probobly 20 minutes. I worked on walk to canter transitions and Paddy was super! He's not having as much as a problem in canter anymore . Well i cooled out and brought him inside and left him in his stall. He must have had a bucket of sweat on him. I have a lesson tonight so i'll update this later.

Well Yesterday i went to the barn for a lesson. Paddy was really grumpy because he wsa eating his supper Well i tacked up and warmed him up. We worked on stuff for the rider level 2. We worked on leg yeilding for some "independance" and then we also worked on transitions because Biz said the judge thingy looks for independace. Well when i was done cooling out Paddy was really tierd and sweaty so i didn't bother to put him on cross ties for to long after. Well i left him in his stall for the night and i went home.
