Wow...what a day. It was sooooo nice out. I had a good ride today. Lugo was doing good. I rode in the bitless, I should have my new bit soon. And we actually cantered (or tried to anyway haha) today. He is alittle off balence though and not to sure where to but his feet, but he's just learning Also I think I will have a bit more comtrol and be able to collect him up a little to get his legs a bit more under control once I am able to use a bit again. He is a little head strong with the bitless. But I have a booboo to confess!! I have been realizing latly that before I started riding Lugo I have been using my hands for balence I noticed with a bit he is very sensetive so I only use aslittle contact as possably and I find I am very off balance without and thing to "hold" on to. But with the bitless he is head strong and pulling on my hands but I have good balance. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Any excersises I can do to get my balance from my seat? Well thats it for today. Pics to come when Lacey gets home!! Thanks in advance for any advice!

He was such a good boy today! His canter was disunited a lot, but it was still pretty good for a 'first timer'! I'm proud of all the ponz! As for getting out of the whole "using your reins for balence" thing: It's best to get on a horse who is already trained, and to be lunged while on it's back and drop your reins. Do different exercises like posting trot, sitting trot, walk, canter, etc. with no reins. I"m pretty sure that's what I did. Can't remember. After a while, you don't become AT ALL dependant on your reins. Hope I could help!

Our ride yesterday was AWESOME!!!!! ;D Well, first I got my new bit and he loves it!! We tried torting poles, he loves it!!!! Our canter was great! Took a few tries but once he figured it out he had it!!! Then Andrea lunged us (tanks love ;D ) and I did some riding with no hands and what a babe. Was sooooo well behaved! I was soooo proud of him yesterday. I'm going to talk to Jackie about starting him over some small jumps this summer. But if she thinks his feet can't take it then it's out of the question. I'm not risking my boy going lame. But if he is able to, by the looks of him over troting poles I think he will enjoy jumping. But anyway what a day we had!!!!

I was pretty amazed myself. It was pretty funny when he went over them for the first time. He picked his legs up really high and it looked really funny!
