Seeing as she's here now, I might as well start one of these.
So, when did she get here? Saturday, October 28, around noon. So Saturday I didn't really do anything with her, just moved my stuff in and let her and Katie get to know each other, I checked out her new field and made sure all were happy and left.
Sunday I trimmed her feet, did a little bit of groundwork... I think that's all don't remember really ha. Gave her a good brushing.
Monday I saddle her up, got on and off and on and off and wiggled around. She was pretty bored with that, so although I had no intentions of doing this so soon, I decided to grab my safety vest (already had my helmet on) and take her out and see what she'd do with me riding her. So I make reins on her "Parelli" halter and head out. Get on, and sit there. Nothing. She looks at me, "Yes?". So I wiggle around, asking her to walk and off we go. I don't really try to steer yet, just sit there, let her go. After a minute I start guiding her around a bit. She's doing really good, not worried, not looking like she wants to buck me off. All good. So after a few more minutes I hop off and call that a day.
Tuesday- Did the same thing as Monday pretty much. She's already a little better with steering and stop and go. Actually, she's very good at halt. She stops almost all the time on "whoa".
And today, Wednesday- Didn't feel very energetic today, so I just brushed her off quick, but a "real" bridle with a bit on and lead her around with that kind of getting her used to the bit and the pressure of it. She was doing great so I decided to ground drive her. Did even better. Still gotta work on the steering as she tends to over turn, but seriously, for three days work, I'm rather impressed with the pony.
So only did that for a few minutes and that was that. Trimmed her toes a little bit more. And then went home.
She seems to have calmed down a lot from when I left her a couple months ago. Good stuff.
So that's all for now I guess.
