Shelly, I thought she was breeding stock paint as well but when I saw her out in St Johns I asked "is that the little breeding stock paint filly that used to be in Reidville" and my instructor (for the day) said that she was QH... I didnt know if I had made a mistake but I still think shes adorable either way!!!
Shes looking good Jess!!!

Yeah, I've been told as well that she's breeding stock paint, or that she's a QH. So I'm not sure exactly, but either way I still love her. Thanks Suzanne, she's such a good little girl.

I rode my baby girl for the first time today!! Ahahah, it's so exciting, and there's no one around to tell, so I figure I'll just write it in here.
It was actually really sudden, I wasn't planning to, but Rhonda came up while I was lunging her and told me to go grab my helmet so I could get on her. I'll be honest, I've only seen a horse backed for the first time once, and that horse went absolutely nuts, so that was what I was expecting, especially since she was acting up a little on the lunge line, but it honestly could not have gone any better than it did. When I finally actually sat on her after I leaned over her back and everything, she turned around, sniffed at my boot, sniffed at my pant leg, looked at me, and if horses could shrug, I swear she would have, as if to say "Oh, it's just you. Ok." Rhonda walked her around and other than trying to figure out how to balance my weight along with her own, she couldn't have cared less that I was on her back, she was an absolute angel. Rhonda complimented me on the work that I've done with her and said she was ready to start some under saddle work, it was great. It can be so frustrating sometimes, but its when you see that you're really making progress, it's so rewarding.
She was a real sook after I got off her, so she got lots of kisses, and then I brought her over and untacked her and scrubbed her face and ears with her new jelly scrubber. I've never known a horse that loved her face brushed and her ears played with as much as that mare.
Hahah, anyway, I just had to share that because I'm pretty sure I'll be grinning about it for the rest of the week.

Wow, lots to update for the little beast: I've ridden her about 5 or 6 times now, and she just gets better every time. The last two times I've ridden her we did some jog. She's so so forward, once she relaxes she has such nice natural headcarriage, and she really steps up under herself. She's a bit spoiled though, she's used to having the arena to herself, so when there's other horses in there while I'm riding her she gets crooked that they're in "her" arena. Rhonda will start us off walking next to us with her on the lunge line, just incase she decides to act silly. For some reason, even though she's not a nippy or aggressive horse at all, she gets irritated with someone walking with her when I'm riding. She pins her ears and nips at Rhonda's sleeve. I guess she's just telling her she's a big girl and can do it all on her own. Once she's walking around on her own she settles down. She's really responsive to my aids, still getting used to leg and hands to guide her rather than following me on the ground, and sometimes I have to tell her to "teer-ot" along with my clucks to jog because she gets a little confused, but she's some good baby. Her whoa's and easy's are fantastic. I've started getting her used to two things: clippers and chain leads. She's not impressed with either, but she's terrified of the clippers and just gets pissy with chain leads, so the latter was a much shorter process. She doesn't mind the noise of the clippers, it's the vibration that freaks her out. But by the end of it, she'd bring her nose within an inch or less of them, so that's definite progress from her initial reaction. Yesterday I put a chain lead on her like you would in showmanship to practice, and she pretty much threw one of her patented Oreo hissy-fits. Needless to say, she got in trouble. She only got pissy with me twice, and then she calmed right down. She just likes to make sure I know her opinion on everything we do. Look for my little beast in the ring this summer, you guys. I'm thinking maybe a walk-trot class and showmanship. Come tell her how pretty she is

When I saw her in August (haha seems like just yesterday) she looked awesome! and you were doing some halter work with her (backing between barrels if I remember correctly) she was awesome!!! I will certainly love to see you and her in some walk jog classes as well as halter! If Denali wasn't having a baby ( : we could have been some friendly competition oh well... maybe next summer... Keep up the great work with her!
