hey everyone, Bad news about Clay, well it all started when i noticed when i would brush his back/barrel, and he would move his head up and down, so i just though you know like it was just a itichie spot or somthing. So anyway yesterday i went out and i decided to cheek it out, and when i put my hand on the spot, he bobed his head agan, then i pitched it and he droped his back , tensed up and bobed his head.... I got sara to look at it, and she said it was the saddle pitching him.... it probly is, but anyother possablity's? or anything i can do? Hilary.

I would get your coach to look him over first, keep an eye on it, and start thinking about maybe getting the vet to look at him. Hope he's feeling better soon!

Poor clayton . P.s. I miss you guys!!!!! So..no trail ride tomorow? What saddle are you riding him in now?? Was it mine pinching him? Also, remember when you're checking his back that you have to go from withers to loins, and push/"pinch" slowly and not TOO hard, because, hey, If I were to push you/prod at you hard you'd move away from me too(him dropping his back). I also think a rubber grooma groomer with dull, rounded spikes would feel nice to him too(I'm not him, of course, but it's an idea!). Just gently rubbing it over his sore back muscles. I know Prancer LOVES it, starts falling asleep, haha. Just softly and slowly! And on your way back(getting his back okay again)...take it slow. He's only three, you two have all the time in the world, a few weeks at a walk(Hacking out with meeeeeeeeeeeee:D) won't hurt you! Not sure if his back is to that point that he'd need time off, it's just a suggestion. Plus, it would be fun anyway! Anyway, that a few things I've learned from the entire bad back experience!

He looks great Hilary!!! Definately keep an eye on his back. If it gets worse I would call the vet. Lunging him with and without the saddle may help you figure out if it's the saddle that is causing the problem.
