someone want to fully explain this to me?

i have had tonns(like.. 6 now i think) of people saying 'well i'll cheat, my horse isnt ready to jump this high so ill do the lower one ect' people doing that should do the JR A but there doing Jr C

i dont understand..
i thought it was based on age not skill level?
like common people..
if your horse can't do 2'9 then just don't do the over fences portion instead of outplacing a little 13 year old

someone want to post the rules for me? the NEA doesnt seem to have them..

becca, all the rules have changed.
im pretty sure thats not the way it works anymore.


its now based on riding skill and not age.
(correct me if im wrong but thats what ive been told)

i was told the hacks changed like ammature novice and open, and the height changed for skill level, but the jr's are based on age. this comming from my coach so i kind of take her word

It IS based on age .. which is stupid .....
So .. does it mean that my Grandmother can get on my horse and jump 3' ? Just 'cause she's older? EFF NO.

yeah Jr's are based on age not level. but all the novice ammature and opens are baised on skill level. they have an ammature and open equatation as well i do believe!


but i do ask.. if your 17 why are you showing with 13 year olds instead of with your own age group? seems unfair for the little ones.. if your horse isn't ready to do the 3'0 coarse then just don't do the o/f part of it and the show secretaries or whoever does show forms are not catching on to it.. like we have to put our age down.. and if they see someone in the wrong devision shouldn't they contact them or change it or something?!

and if people are more concerned about skill level then age, then maybe that shuold be brought ot the NEA meeting / banquete and get that changed for next year.

Just to help clarify:

ARTICLE G1107 CLASSES

1. Classes may be open to all junior or amateur riders or may be restricted as shown below. Junior and
amateur classes may never be combined.
2. Classes may be restricted according to the age of the junior rider:
a) Individuals are juniors until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 18.
b) JUNIOR A: Riders are classified as Junior A from the beginning of the calendar year in which they
turn 16 to the end of the calendar year in which they turn 18.
c) JUNIOR B: Riders are classified as Junior B from the beginning of the calendar year in which they
turn 13 to the end of the calendar year in which they turn 15.
d) JUNIOR C: Riders are classified as Junior C until the end of the calendar year in which they turn
