Can someone explain how points for western work. What places are points awarded for?

points are awarded for placings 1-6th
1 gets 6 points
2nd gets 5 points and so on. Then your points are multiplied by the number in the class, so getting 6 in a class of 40 might get you more points that getting 1st in a class of 2.
