I'm looking into getting a pair of Justin gypsy boots or a similar style. i was wondering how sizing works for cowboy boots. the ones I have now i've had for years and are the boulet lace up ropers in size 6 1/2. I wasnt sure what size I should order. in normal shoes im a size 7 to 7.5

You have to be careful with cowboy boots! I was told that in order for them to fit properly they had to fit so many different criteria, and by the time I had my boots broken in my feet looked like burn victims! (Those were Justins) I find with most cowboy boots you tend to go down one size.

I bought a pair of Justin cowboy boots last year and got them in the same size I normally wear (6 1/2). They fit like a glove from day one ... most comfortable boots I've ever had. I also have Justin Ropers and they are the same ... perfectly comfortable in the size I normally wear.

Each brand and toe shape will be slightly different. My Ariets (jembabies, showbabies, fatbabies) round toe are perfect 8 1/2 for my size 9 foot. My Old Gringos (pointed toe) are size 9 and are snug. Like jeans, try them on, find a brand you love and buy a bunch!

I have a pair of Justin Gypsys. They are the same size as my regular footwear but I find them a wider fit.

I find the Justin's are bigger.. but it most likely is because of the wider fit. With the Ariats I find they are made a bit big and do loosen up over time.
I presently have ariat Probabies they are due to be retired. I also have a pair of Anderson Bean's in a size 3. They are a perfect fit but I am having a problem adjusting to them because they do not have a rubber sole and I feel half an inch shorter in them.
I tried a pair of Ariat's that were a size 4. and they were so large they just fell right off my feet while I was riding..
also if you get a chance to try them on, wear a bootsock or whatever you will be wearing when you wear your boots.
