I thought I'd share this gem and hope you all cringe as much as I do. This is supposedly a "Natural Horsemanship" clinic in France. Personally, I think if you're going to get in a 'who is stronger' fight with a horse, you're going to lose. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4YY2GXiOLAAnyone else come across some especially cringe-worthy training videos?

If I were the owner I would've stepped in! If any of the NHS clinics I've done remotely went like this I would've taken my horse and left

Yanking on the face is bad enough, but once she started KICKING the horse in the side then someone should have grabbed the horse from her.
Because the best way to get a horse to stop moving is to kick it in the side..

NH or not there is absolutely NO clear message being given to that horse on what to do. And it has nothing to do with how to use a rope halter. Its an idiot trying to do ground work without having the slightest clue what she is doing.
I've seen that video before and it's just discusting.

Vicky, it LOOKS like she's trying (the wrong way) to teach the horse a game called "Hind the Hiney". Basically it teaches them never to go ahead of you and always face you, and never stick their rear at you. Very basic Parelli/NHS.
She should not be instructing anyone. She should not be handling horses. It doesn't matter what you call it or what gear you use, I think we all know better than to do things like that!!!

I don't understand what she's trying to accomplish, neither can the horse obviously.
I was working with jazz the other day doing yielding the hind quarter and looked nothing like that haha.

This is the reason there are some (and I mean some) NH horses that are burnt out mentally by the time they reach a real trainer.
Now don't go getting all in a huff. I know there are people that follow NH and do well with their horses. But this video just goes to show it's not all rainbows and butterflies. Same with all types of training and disciplines.

No matter what training you do, NH or not, kicking a horse is never going to get your point across.
I'm learning how to do yield the hindquarter now with Jazz, and even when I mess up big time it looks NOTHING like that.
