Today was a really sad day for us here at Sweetiron This afternoon we had to euthanize one of our shepherds, Holly. she would be turning 8 next week but unfortunatly could not stay here long enough to see that day. Holly has had bad eye sight for a few years now, and last week we made the desision to call the vet when she came into the house and hit the wall, he eyes were bloodshot and she was completly blind. Holly was our first shepherd, we ot her when she was two, she was very dog aggresive and would bite kids. My nan who lives with us was terrified of her and hated being left in the house incase to dog got at her, after a year nan would be fine to touch the dog but still never trusted her, Last year holly had a litter of puppies and 2 of them were premature, nan had grown to love and trust holly enough that nan would sprend all day in the room bottle feeding her puppies, my mom who also didn't really liked shepherds got attached to Holly and now they both have a shepherd from holly as well as my sister who has a puppy from our first litter of puppies. Holly has made a huge difference to the Sweetiron Kennels opinion on Shepherds because now not only do we own 1 but we own 3 and co-own one, along with showing and trialing all of them and possibly have another on on the way from PEI! If it weren't for Holly we would never have any shepherds right now, nor have the quality of working and pet shepherds we have bred!
You will be forever missed, with your happy go lucky attitude and friendly face! Rest in Peace Holly, your friends are awaiting your arrival over the rainbow bridge.
