i know krys has one somewheres for rocky, but i thought i could start one on my own to see the progress.
as most know rocky, he's a 15.2 hh quarterhorse.
he was off practically all winter, not doing much work till heidi & myself started leasing him.
beginning of the month he was a rocket, needed allot of guidence with the circles and not using his hind end all that much
sinse then he's hunting circles decently, has a nice natural headset, using his hind end for the majority of the time
today i wanted to see what he was like to deworm, just stuck him in his stall and had a big syring filled with minty flavored water. he shyed away i just let him chill out come back towards me (hay was beside me anyways ) and he came back, squirted a little on his mouth so he knew what it was, then he decided oh hey, this isn't too bad!
after i got 2 good efforts from him, bringing his head over towards me and him wanting to take it on his own i took him out of his stall and ground tied him, seeing if he would act any differently then in his stall (just from past experiance, i could deworm prince no problem in his stall from this same excersise, but he would panic when in the isle) and he was excellent, still very curious, even trying to bite down on it
i got some videos, will have to upload them later
after i tacked up and rode
warmed up just getting him going in a niceheadset on the circle in all 3 gaites with some downward, upward and halt transitions which he's comming responsive to. no lope to halt transitions yet, just as the ground isn't the best for it but hes using his bumm allot nicer then what he was before, but still a long way to go. worked on our 'blueberrys' excersise & another one thats like an S within a circle (not sure if the exsact name) and went well.
worked on our cross overs and half passes on the diagonal. we worked on these in our lesson sunday as an introductory to lead changes on a straight line. just worked on it at a walk and got some EXCELLENT effort out of him today, i was pretty impressed. after we worked on our spins, which we had a little more difficulty with but i got 1 full rotation each way and left it at that.
i love this horse, he puts his all into whatever he does. krys is quite the lucky gal to have him
