Can I ask what a quarter sheet does? If that's what he has on. I'm what called English stupid lol.

haha yes, that is what he has one. Czar is full body clipped so he pretty much has no hair (well, I mean he was clipped in November and just hasn't grown much back) so the quarter sheet is just used to trap some of the heat in to keep his back muscles warm. I use mine for my whole ride and most people only use theirs warming up. I just don't like the idea of warming him up with it on and heating up his muscles and then taking it off only to let all the cold air hit him.

Think of it like when you're riding though, if you're riding indoors anyways, you eventually get really warm and take off your coat and it feels good!

Yeah but it's a lot colder here than it is in Newfoundland. Some days it's close to -30. I rarely take off my coat when I ride haha

Update time now that school is over!!
The past few weeks I've been doing at least one lesson, if not two, a week. Czar is doing AMAZING. I seriously can't get over how great he is. We've been doing courses at around 2'9 and schooling 3' and 3'3.
Instead of going through the past few weeks, I'll just talk about yesterday.
Finished exams yesterday and went straight to the barn for a lesson. Started out just loosening us both out (he had been inside because it was raining all morning) Then we moved onto just trotting around working on my eq and then on collection and extension. Then we moved up to the canter where we did 5 collected 5 extended strides over and over. Then I dropped my stirrups and worked on my eq at the canter. After that we did some bounces. Then I got my stirrups taken away again hahah and had to do three bounces without stirrups. I surprised myself about how well it went!! Then I got my stirrups back and just worked on jumping a 3' oxer. I've been really nervous jumping ever since I fell off Czar back in August. Surprisingly this time, I didn't panic at all. I just rode. I ended up picking a deep distance once and I knew it but I kept going and I realized that it wasn't even that bad. It didn't end in disaster and that was really comforting. Finally getting over my nerves and its perfect!!

Rode in a clinic yesterday with Angela Covert-Lawrence. For those of you who don't know who she is, she is on Canada's Equestrian Team. Anywho!
We were in the 2'9 group. Czar was fantastic. Though it must be noted that he needs to get used to his ear plugs. Poor bugger. There were a lot of kids in the stands and it was just noisy all around so we started off with a jump on that side and he just didn't like it at all. Anyways. Throughout the ride we just kept add in a new jump each time until there was like 11 jumps to do! Everything went really smoothly expect for when Czar ran down one of the lines and I pulled him out. Shouldn't have as the next time, like Angie said, he wanted to run out on his own. But he is a good boy and lets me screw up every now and then. He also spooked really bad going to one of the jumps because someone opened one of the back doors (but you shouldn't see) and let it slam. No big deal though we came back to it and he did it fine.
the only other issue we had was that by the end of the hour and a half, he was getting really fussy and frustrated. One of the other horses already left and then a lot of people were leaving the stands and he just wouldn't stand still and he gave a little buck at the halt and everything. But when it was our turn to go, he got over it and went just fine. And then he was SUPER happy to leave. haha
all in all it was a really great ride. There's a video on facebook if anyone wants to take a look

I got to watch your lesson yesterday, it was interesting. Made me want to go ride Abby, but that always happens when I watch a clinic, haha!

Czar has been nothing but amazing. he seriously is doing so fantastic. Every ride I have he's perfect.
We've been riding him in ear plugs lately to try and get him used to them for shows. He's not too happy about it. But that's it! He's getting better with it and his canter has been getting better and better
He's getting adjusted by a chiropractor soon which I'm hoping will loosen him up a bit!
