Well, Brandi was a little star todayy !
Controling her nose: Perfect (from what i could tell) . ..
Trotting: Great, could work on the speed, but she slowed down with just my voice, so I'm happy !
Neck Reining: She did awesome! Only had to remind her at the end of our session as she was getting tired and just wanted to go eat...such a fatty.
Backing: It's great except going in a straight line isn't happening....ahaha.
Stopping: Great, going to work on getting her to stop from a trott
Side Pass: Just tried and didn't work at all I don't think and she got so fustrated she did three hops (threatening me really), but I kept at her until she moved side ways, ahaha. better than nothing!

Today:
Controlling Nose: great, had a little trouble with pointing it to the left, but it was manageable. Controlled it well on both sides walk and trot !
Trotting: Getting slowerrr ! I'm just letting it be for now as there are more important things to work on
Neck Reining: She was being a bit ignorant today and not turning as fast as she should be, but was pretty good
Backing: getting straighter!
Stopping: On a dime, had to refresh at the beginning, but then she was awesomee !
Side Pass: She did atleast her front cross overs for about 10 feet ! She left her back behind htough sometimes....ahaha
Loping: Was really good, except with SLOWING down...she was awesome at speeding up and steering could use work, but that's expected !

Controlling Nose: She's way better on one side to the other, but the other side is coming along Trotting: She's slowing it down more and more on her ownnn ! Neck reining: great at first but then she got pissed cause I kept working her so she wouldn't turn as fast until I cracked down on her BAcking: Getting there, will soon be able to use only my leggg Stopping: I was using just my voice so she wouldn't stop on a dime but I fixed that ! Side Pass: Pretty good, that's on the ground Loping: She was doing great ! She's a bit hard to steer with the tweo rein steering but I prefer to use that than just the inside rein....she was fast at first but I got her into a nice semi slow lope and then did my speed changes...she did slow down when I asked so I'm happy She was a lot better for the second round cause she was pooped out Bending: Took about two tries, but she's doing a lot smaller circles now so I expected there to be some hestitation.

Me and miss brandi were in the jim durling clinic and well, I'm os very proud of herr I took her in my level three lessons and the first day was great, except she wouldn't pick up her left lead and then we were trying to get her to move off my leg so I could get her onto that lead and she hasn't done it before so clearly , she wasn't going to do it then. We got through it though and she did it once maybe that session. Sunday we worked on turn on the forehand and haunches and I was peasently surprised! We have to work on the exercise for turn on the haunches, but the circle we were doing was pretty small, so I was smiling ! Turn on the forehand (exercise) went better one direction then the other and so she did about a 180 degree forehand turn by the end of the session going to the leftt (YAHH !) Today, I had some handy spurs on and they made the difference of the world in her leg yeilding/two tracking exercises She was doing marvelous and although better on one side then the other, she still improved! Her exercise for the turn on the haunches was better to one side than to the other but it was definatly an improvement ! Also, jim got me to do vertical bending or something that helps with collection and I can now get her to do it (although still with quite a bit of hesitation from her) at a w/t/l and it seems to be helping with her speed, so I'm happyy ! All in all, we have a lot of things to work on but she did so much better than I thought she would and with lots of hard work she'll get there !

I decided to change things up and work from the ground this eveningg. I did trotting, stopping, slowing, and changing directions when lunging to get her warmed up. After that I let her off and drove her around and around and around. She was unsure of me after even without the lunge whip cause I haven't done that in forever and I guess it was out of the blue for her, but it really let her true colors come out IMO. After about 15 minutes without the whip of driving her around so she'd come to me, she relaxed and just let me go to her. She was still unsure but I was able to walk up to her whenever. For that, I gave her a few shreddies and she relaxed a bit. Then I caught her with the lead rope walked a few steps, let her off and walked away. I just kept going up to her and petting her. She was really chill when I left and on the bright side me and her both got a really intense workout

Finally am going to be able to ride consistently ! She is now at the house for the winter , and I'm very proud of the ride home. She went across the bridge (although hesitant) and didn't flinch when someone came right up behind us and honked their horn or when another person honked when they passed ! We did some giving to the bit on our way home and she was doing really great.
This evening I just wanted to work on leg yeilding and giving to the bit. I started off walking her around and getting her to give which took a long time to get her to consistantly give when asked. Then I went in the other direction which also took a bit of time. When she was doing good I moved onto trotting and we ending up spending a lot of our time just trotting around, having her give. I didn't want it to be so long at it, but it had to be done. When I started getting fustrated I had her do it once more then we moved on to leg yeilding. She's still hesitant about it, but it is improving so much !
She'll be off for the weekend as I'll be in Deerlake...

She is doin way better with giving to the bit and started doing it right away ! After about 5 times i did some leg yielding which was also pretty good. By the end she did a leg yield to both sides with just my leg and we did giving to the bit at a wal, trot, and lopee needs work on a lope but i's definatly getting there !

Haven't updated cause I'm just too lazy Unfortunatly, I haven't gotten much work in with her the last few weeks because of dogs, homework, and everything else that seems to not want me to ride my pony...But, for the work we have done, she is coming along great ! We are just working on leg yeilding, giving to the bit, and speed transitions. Giving to the bit is good, she does it almost right away at a walk and trot, but at a lope she needs a lot of work. I'm not panicking though, it'll come. Her leg yeilding is doing awesome as well, and I've been doing it without the spurs (it's harder but I like having to just use my good ol'boot) ! Transitions are good, needs some work slowing from a lope to a trot, and vice versa, so that's gonna get lots of work in the near future

Tubby is doing gooodd It was SUPER windy out, but it wasn't raining and it wasn't very cold out so I decided to take the ponz out. I tacked her up, and lunged her at first. she was perfect, well nearly anyway...the only thing we had trouble with was 1) keeping her going and 2) getting her to change directions Her slowing transitions, stops, and ease on the lunge line was greattt I hopped on then for some bit work, and geting her listening to my leg. She's still hard to leg yield without spurs, but she's becoming more aware of my leg and what it means. She's also starting to get give right away to me and her head is getting lower and lower everydayy Gosh, loves my ponyyy I do

Haven't done much with the pony, cause weather is weird and I haven't been feeling the best! But, she got out the other day and she went like a 15 walk away so I decided to hop on her bareback and just go halter and lead and she did great ! she stood until I told her to go and she didn't spook and her head was even low ! I was sooo happy! I'm hoping to do a lot more work with her once the weather clears up and my flu goes way, cause I hate riding on soggy ground.

Pony had her toes done today and she was really good while getting them done. She just stood perfectly still and didn't flinch a muscle. She also didn't care about the dogs have a kiniption over another dog, a plastic bag or cars drving up! I was so happy! The only time she put up a fuss was when she needed to put one of her back legs down for a rest, which was no problem She was so great, her toes were done in an hour ! Yesterday: She was really pumped so we pretty much just worked at a lope (after warming up of course!), cause I felt she needed to get the energy out and we wouldn't of gotten anywhere with the usual stuff. Once she got her sillys out, she started focusing on the one thing I wanted her to do, giving to the bit She did great, for being so hyper! The only thing we really had trouble was getting her leads right. It took about 5 tries to get her on the right lead, then she picked it up everytime. I asked for left, and she got it after two tries. It was an improvment so I accepted it. That's pretty much it!

Kinda bored with having to write in this, but I will give a little update on the pony! She's doing really well with getting her head down and transitions. She's gettin cheap on her leg yielding, but it's coming. We are also up to getting her head down at a lope...not just for walk and trot! We have done some ground work as well and she picked up a few minor things very quickly ! She learned when my arms goes out tone side , she changes direction for lunging and when Y arm goes on her head that she is to lower her head. There's still a bit of trouble, but it's coming along well Sorry if here is a lot of spelling mistakes! I'm on my iPod and too lazy to go back and fix it up ;$

Haven't had Brandi out lately due to my busy bsy schedule, not like she minds anyway... I got her out today though and it was really just for fun, not really training ! She was being really annoying today with trying to go back home and she wouldn't stand still. When I got down to a place where I could run her, I ran her and I'm pretty sure that's all she needed because she stood perfectly still and was quite a lady after She really got muscle work trying to get through the snow, and going up and down hills. She also got lots of desensitizing with skidoos because we passed about 4 and she never even flinched, so that made me happy. All in all, she got her sillies out and that's all that mattered. I'm going to start actual training tomorrow, and get Brandi back into her regular schedule instead of just eating and getting fat. That's all for now!

So, because we've had SO much snow, Brandi got the whole winter off. Thankfully, I was smart enough to feed her just enough so she didn't get fat and she's now ready for some spring butt kicking ! I trimmed her toes today and for not being handled at all the winter she was fantastic! She had a little "you aren't getting near my back feet" thing, but one correction and she behaved I'm going to ride her later on and update on how that goes! Hopefully I don't fall off...

Yesterday I rode her and she was really jittery at first and I'm not sure why. But I was firm with her and she started to listen so I could tack her up and such. I went to get on and she moved so I decided I would work on that until she stood still. It took about ten times before she stood, but it was time well spent (imo) ! At the beginning of our ride she wasn't focused at all, it took her about five minutes to get focused on what I was doing and after that she was pretty good ! Her vertical flaxtion is shitty at a trot, but what do I expect after being a potatoe for the whole winter.. she was really hyper so after she was doing decent at a trot with the vertical flexion I loped her just so she could tire out a bit..she got her sillies out and decided she wanted to work so more vertical stuff we did..at a lope ! SHe was doing amazingg Then we worked on her cues (trot, walk, side pass) and she did pretty decent for second ride of 2011 ! All in all, I'm super proud and she's such a smartt girll
