Well Dr's Office called today and they want me in the office ASAP next week. Will not say anything other than be prepared..... Had Xrays done on my back..... I know the secretary well and I don't think it will be good news. I anticipated this from teh get go but now I am terrified to get the results. Please keep good thoughts for me please.

thanks everyone. I have what they call scoliosis which is curvuture of the spine...When I was 16 I was border line surgery which consisted of applying a steel rod attached to my spine to keep it from curving.....Although not having the greatest childhood I did not want to lose out on my teenage years and being 16 I was able to decide for myself....I declined......
My Xrays 2 weeks ago show a severe curve both top and bottom and I fear it will be surgery again. No chiropractor can fix it......
I dread the simple idea of a mistake or a slip and I can be in a wheelchair..Let alone people tell me If I continue without it maybe I will injure myself and it could happen...technologie has changed...
I just want the results to not be so serious.....I will certainly update...

I have scolosis, as well, in the lower portion of my thorasic spine. And some serious arthritis in my neck. Gissy, I know surgery is very scary thing to contemplate. But it could be the best thing for you. Living in fear is unpleasant. Get all the facts you can, see if you can talk to some people who have had harrington rods put in place (assuming that is the type you possibly could receive). I have several associates here who have them and they maintain full time jobs, raise a family, do everything that they deem necessary for a full life. Good luck and hugs to you.

thanks girls.....I have had scoliosis since they first discovered it when I was 12.....Normal Dr apt...Sent me to a specialist in Ottawa and I ended up wearing a back brace made of fiberglass 23 hours a day...What a teenage complexe i had....I got fed up as I only saw my back worsen with it and I did not want to lose the rest of my teenage years.....I took the decision to remove it and the Dr's asked me to come back in 6 months for a follow up.I felt freedom.....I started riding my bicycle- playing ball - horse back riding - swimming. I felt normal again and finished my highschool with pride...I returned 6 months after removing the brace and they were in awe to see the major imporvement.
The degrees are to be considered with scoliosis.....I started at a curve in my neck - fisrt curve between shoulder blades was at 12 and the lower portion was at 15 I beleive - wore the brance for 2 years and ended up with 38 up top - and 22 at the bottom. 6 months after i removed the brace I was a 10 up top nad 8 at the bottom.........
Now they wanted to do surgery at 38 which consisted of stabilising a pin to my spine - fusing it for 2 years minimum.....I saw a neighbor;s daughter go through it and I was scared back then a mistake would criple me so I said NO>.....
Today my curve in my neck is not there or not noted.....Top curve is at 52.4 and the bottom one is 34 I beleive...So not very good.....I have teniis elbow and got cortison injections there yesterday and feel like sh** today.....Called in sick from work...My shoulder is rorating inwards but has kept a normal appearance other than rotating inwards becuase of my back.......
Well sorry for rambling on but this is my story and I figured for those who don't know what scoliosis is they can get an idea.
I just hope we can do something....Fear has been with me from day 1 when I was diagnosed.....The fear of a fall or even a car accident making me handicaped for the rest of my life.....

Gissy, you do have quite the curves in your spine. The decision rests with you as to what you can be comfortable with, and what will give you the best possible future. I'll be thinking about you.
