Okay so my horse China is a very hard keeper and he is on 2 cups of trimax twice a day and 2 cups of high fat high fibre twice a day so in total he gets 8 cups of grain a day , he is also out on pasture and we started putting him in vegetable oil 2 cups a day and recently the last couple of days he leaves some of his grain and doesn't want to eat the rest my question is what should I do to make him more interested in eating his grain? Should I cut back the amount ?

Feed lots of hay rather than up his grain.

Give haycubes a try? I've had great success with feeding horses cubes. Often they just need it till the weight is back on and then you can cut them back or off completely.

You said he only recently started leaving his grain? Have his teeth been done? If he was eating everything fine before it could be something like that.

Is he getting hay while he's on pasture? He might not be getting enough out of just the grass. Or if being on pasture is a new thing, he may not be adjusting well to that lifestyle.

He is just a very picky eater his teeth get done every year , he has the option of hay , it is his second year on pasture , I will try the hay cubes and hope that helps thanks ! He just has always been this way hard to put weight on and easy to take off . He just really needs to fill out in his hind end and hips .
