Apparently it happened Sunday morning on Fowler's Rd. The Lamberts were called to go up with their trailer and ended up taking one of the horses back to their barn because they did not know at the time who owned them. One I believe had to be destroyed on the scene and one was already dead. Sad.

I hope that's not the case, I really thought that the new management was going to step up and fix the issues they were having. He didn't have any horse experience, but he seemed eager to learn what he had to do to best help the horses.
Karen, you don't know anything about the three that got loose, do you? Was a big drafty roan gelding one of them?

I just wanted to post this for anyone who may have been concerned. If the horses that got loose were even in poor condition to begin with (and the mare who survived certainly was not, as she is back at CSR and is in good condition physically), then they are the exception rather than the rule. I stopped by on my way up to the barn and they look wonderful. Every single one of them, without exception, are big as bears, feet are kept up, they are fuzzy and just generally looking a million times better than this time last year. So in contrast to this tragedy, I think that the staff at CSR certainly deserve kudos for the efforts they have put into getting each and every one of those horses healthy and happy. This is how rumors start, and whatever has happened in the past, CSR most definitley does not deserve to be on the receiving end of any sort of neglect accusations or insinuations. (Karen, just so you don't take this personally, I am not directing this at you, just speaking in general. You know how people talk.)

I was wondering if I was the only one who heard about it. Someone at the gas station on Torbay Road saw my Cloverdale Farm jacket the other day and they asked if I had heard about the horses who got killed from CSR...I said..no..thought it was a rumor.
So sad.

no,no jess.i'm not taking anything personally, but that is what i heard and i just put it out there in case anyone felt the need to help the horses.like i said,i am planning a trip there myself tomorrow to check it out and still drop off some hay.i am thrilled that's it's a rumor.i'm not one to start rumors, but the thought that horses were sufferring just up the road from me was very upsetting, and i couldn't get up there to check it out(both my boys are very ill).i'm glad you got up there and i'm also glad that you found out that the rumor was unfounded.

I was out to CSR today and yes 2 horses did die last weekend. I was talking to the guy that runs the place and he said that around 4am last Sunday morning 3 horses broke out and went onto the road. One pony, a gelding was killed right away and a mare was hurt and later had to be put down, the third horse is fine. He thinks that something must have spooked them because usually they stick around the ranch when they get out.
As for the condition of the horses all are fat ans happy!
