She's good!
I lunged her the other day. She was good except for wanting to just play in the snow. I let her off the hook to have a roll, a run and to scoop up some snow in her mouth as she was walking.
then we did some stretchy walk and trot on the lunge and that was it.
Brought her in and groom her to death and cuddled her times tttteeeennn.
Hopefully I'll get in again tuesday and Abby and I can go on a hack!

Back on the beast yesterday!!!!
When I got to the barn she was half lke "WTF DO YOU WANT?" and was mad at me, but I took her buckets out started scrubbing them outside her stall while she was on stall guard and she poked her nose out to see what I was doing and kept touching me with her nose to get my attention.
I groomed her in her stall once I had my barn chores done. First, before I rode I let her out into the arena to let her kinks out, she went crazy we played tag, had lots of fun.
I rode her in one of Gail's western saddles, which fit her like a glove. Didn't double pad her or anything.
She has lost all of her manners, like she was soso rude. It's okay though I mean she hasn't realy been ridden since August.
Anyway she danced around really bad while getting the saddle put on. I need to do some more work with her bridling as well. I think I might just start from the basics with the way Gill puts Cativa's bridle on.
Once we got out and I got mounted she was good at a walk, nice and forward. We walked a 20 m circle for about 15 minutes(trying to trod down a path in the arena). Did lots of stretching. Then I asked for a trot and I got this mad power trot, she did some trantering. So, next time I ride i'm going to ride outside the arena where I can trot for longer distances(the square around the arena and paddocks is cleared and the arena was hard for her to keep her feet) to try and simmer her down a bit. She's just feeling good and wants to go go go! We did like, five minutes of trot all together.
I got off and loosened her cinch to cool her out(I like to cool out off her back, always did) she kept rubbing her nose up in my because her new bridle was itching her and she kept getting her bit caught up in my jacket. It was cute.
After I cooled her out I was anxious to see if she was ouchy so I brought her in and took the saddle off and NOTHING. No ouchy at all, just a normal horse back. Not sore, nothing. So I'm -definitaly- buying a western saddle now.
I've been doing alot with her ears, she's been letting me groom them, and rub them lightly on the out side and on the tips so that's major progress.
I groomed her for like two hours after our ride, did her belly lifts(which she doesn't hate a much now!), and curry combed her back a whole lot. She was so content being fussed overShe was shiny and happy when I left.
In again thursday! I'll get pics of her in her new (english, with a flash and a sparkly browband)bridle and the western saddle, haha. Shut up, she was still cute, my pony can pull anything off, haha.

Well, I am going to start incorporating some natural horsemanship into Prancer's "training". I will be trying a few NH things such as rythym bells, bitless bridle, etc.
I'm buying a hackamore but I'm not too sure on how she will feel about it, so we'll have to see.

Whoa, can't let this get to the second page! No way!!!!! Aha, well as you know I bought prancer a western saddle so i'll be riding her alot more now. Today, I got to the barn and groomed her in her stall as per usual. Took her outside once she ate some more hay, turned her loose in the arena got about 2 beans out of her . Then she jumped the fence, as can be seen in the general discussion section. I brought her back into the arena and pooped heron the lunge line, did walk/rot in both directions which was uneventful, then Kelly and abby howed up and she decided she had something to prove and was dancing demon horse from hell. Just kidding, my girly's no demon. She kept turning towards me and ignoring my cues, had a few mini rears. Kelly got all of this on tape. Then I asked Kelly to givei t a shot, but Prancer just wans't having it, so we both went at her. She ws still not lunging well, we worked her so much you'd think she'd have collapsed. Well.. she did't collapse. She didn't even break a freakin' sweat. Anyway I we got her around once at a walk then a trot, full circles in each direction*claps hands*. Kelly + Mel = Teamwork. Anyway, after she was alright and breathing decent again, which didn't take long(and after lots of loving from Kelly and I), Kelly and I put her away and headed to Equine Meadows or a visit!!! I swear Josie asked me where Prancer was! . Kelly dropped me back to Dixie and I took prancer otu again and just walked her all over the propery, because she still spooks at the trucks and cars on the far end. Once Abby got back home we both tacked up to go for a hack but we didn't get to go because dad pulled up and I had to untack fast and leave.

Rode Prancer again two days ago!!
We did some walking on and off the track just using legs, which she's pro at. Then we did some stretching while walking on and off the track. Then we added in some neck rein(which she's already decent at).
Lots of stuff at a walk, backing up(which she does fast, just not straight, I know, it's my fault ;p) some turn on forehand.
Then we added in some halt-trot trot-halt transtitions. The backwards transtitions(even just trot-walk, forget trot-halt) were teeeerrible.
She just did NOT want to stop at aaaalll.
Although, she did actually have somewhat of a jog to the right, still a bit forward but it was nice. To the left it was just trot afastaspossibleeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stopping from seat? forget about it, she'd slow her trot/walk but that's about it.
I also need to get a new bit, I don't know what it is but she doesn't like the eggbutt very much, I reeeally need a loosering.
We also need some lessons, big time!!

Get some lessons with a western coach (assuming you're training her western now) and they'll be able to help you teach her how to stop off your seat.
If Fury can do it, any horse can do it. Trust me on this one hahhaa

Hey Mel, I rode your pony today! And what a ride it was! Just ask poor Abby and Thunder, who were in the ring during all the badness. After figuring out that the electric fence had to be turned off (Thank you, Jessica!) I took in your pony for her grooming and attention, then tacked her up in all the silly purple rhinestoned tack There were loads of people around, so I felt kind of funny riding in it- no 23 year old woman should wear or ride in- purple suede anything with rhinestones anywhere. She was evil!! She wouldn't stand while I tightened her girth- she's lost weight by the way and you can do up the latigo now. Then she charged away when Thunder started loping. Next we did some walk, then some trot and 20 m circles (or something that resembled it). Thats when the badness began. Once her buddy Summer started walking outside the ring, suddenly she was a crazy loon! She started bucking and galloping away and I ripped my hand open on the leather braids on your pommel. After that it was a fight. I let her get her sillies out while she cantered around the ring twice, and then I cooled out since it was suddenly -20 degrees and a blizzard was starting. Gail and I think she needs a nice long gallop in the field! In case you're wondering (I know you are!) she looked beautiful, was a sweetie in the barn, and the Hansfords are taking great care of her. She just needs more excercise.

MY horse did THAT? Haha I'm so sorry about your hand. My crazy pon needs more regular exercise. Kelly, she just missed you!!! She was excited to have you back in her saddle . Next time definitaly let her have a run first, if there is someone in the arena lunge her(that might be more of a workout for you though, lol)! Thanks SO much Kelly!!!!!!
