probably a week.
OH guys I forgot to mention this.
I think we MAY have found something that contributes tothe way Prancer moves! Her angles, on either diagonal, are different! Jim is fixing it slowly, there's only so much he can do at a time, can't put too much strain on her.
I've heard so many different opinions on what people think is wrong with my horse. I don't know if I'll ever really know.
Ithink the hoof deal is definitaly a contributing factor to her arthritis, maybe once that is fixed the glucosamine will be able to do it's job.
After all, no hoof, no horse.

hey guys. So, last night I rode Prancer since christmas day. Wel, I use the term ride loosley. There were a few changes in her routine that I tihnk may have set her off. Anyway, I put the wide gullet in her saddle like donna advised me too, rode her while it was dark(first time doing so at dixie) and Abby and Donna were watching(I usually work with Prancer while no one is around) and chick was in the arena for some of our "ride". Anyway, we tacked up and headed into the arena, she puffed out her gut while I did up her girth for the first time in a LOOONG time, haha. Anyway I got on and tried to get my seat and stirrups(my new full seat breeches require some stretching to get them just so out of my winter riders, otherwise riding is difficult and hard to do haha). Before I can do that she decided "Um, dark scary, me no worky", and trots towards the fence with little mini bucks, so I'm here somehow managing to keep my ass in the seat(so I dn't hurt her back by bouncing around), trying to still stretch my breeches out of my boots and onto my butt/legs AND stop/turn her. So she's in the light of the barn and I'm turning her in a circle. Chick is in the arena too, so I didn't feel like I should run the risk of prancer blindly trotting by him and getting his or her ass kicked. I hop off. Hey, sometimes it's just not the time to ride. Donna(Norman) who reminds me alot of Donna Humber and makes me miss her alot, alot. Goes and gets my my lunging gear while I walk prancer clamly around the arena. So I get prancer going lunging and she'sb eing a lunatic. With lots of her freaking out and myself and abby calming her down. She stops freaking out..and starts turning towards me(this is like, ooold prancer behaviour BEFORE we did all of the lunging work with donna H.). Oh, she thinks this is HILARIOUS. Playtime for Prancer! ...No. My horse is just too cute for words... Anyway, I sent her out on the lunge, she starts turning in and coming calmly towards me, or just changed the direction on her own(in which case I took Donna/sylvia's advice and make her work harder by trotting in that direction then switching her back on my own accord. She'd still just turn in after. Abby wanted to take a try so she did, Prancer just kept turning in. Anyway, with lots of trying to outsmart/figure out what's up with her, telling her to "get out of it and bullying her with the whip(Sorry baby), I FINALLY got her to walk and then trot a full circle then walk a semi circle and trot a semi circle(Without help from the whip which kept getting stuck on snow balls). So ending on a good note we left the lunging at that and I hopped on, abby walked us around. She got good girls and scratches for being good when abby would get further away. Tomorow i'm riding, and this time I'm wearing breeches that'll allow me to do what I gottah do. P.s. who wants to take lessons with me at Equine?

Haha that she is ♥. I rode her again today! She was a superstar. She's taken to tryign to walk away from me when i'm doing up her girth so with lots of "stop, stand" she finally stood still. She was good for me mounting, she was good when we started. -Amazing- forward walk. We did some laps i n each directions encouraging stretching. We did a little bit of trot in each direction(Like, from a-k. Nice trot, alittle rushy. Then Abby and Jess asked us to go for a hack up the road so we joined them. She was a little sketchy at first but once we came to the bridge the show-off came out in her and when the other ponies were like "hhhhm I dunno, think i'm gonna back up" Prancer boldy walked across to show them how it's not scary! then she wanted to lead the rest of the ride! She spooked once at some snow falling out of a tree but other than that it was great! Heer back is doing well, her loins are still a little ouchy, I'm not sure if I should sweat her back or not considering how cold it was, I was told that doing this would just warm them up, then you blanket them for a few days after. Is that wise? Or should I just stay away from wetting her back all together?

I'm not sure about wetting her back, but I don't think it could do much harm. I think you should just massage it

I honestly don't think you should be sweating her back if you are not sure if she needs it / how to do it because you could do some really serious damage and undo a lot of the hard work you have put into fixing her up. Glad to hear she is coming along well though!

Sarah, I've sweat her back many times before, I know how to do it. I believe it's part of what helped her back recover as fast as it did(it' s stll not 100% but we're getting there). IT's winter now, so I think I'll just stick to heating pads/hot water bottles on her loins now.
Haha Emily, word!
