simmer down.. i'm sure you've 'seen it work', but don't freak out at sarah for asking a question. In any case, there are better suppliments for arthritis than glucosamine.

Yeah that was pretty defensive. I took that as her saying I was going against the vet/thinking I know better than him. When i'm not..and I'm not. Just doing what I feel is best for my horse. I just woke up when i wrote that, haha.
"In any case, there are better suppliments for arthritis than glucosamine." Tell me what they are? Glucosamine's the only one I've been told about, if something else is better I should consider that.
Gill, he's okay! Took a while to get him down though! Prancer snorted her strangles vaccination all over his head, haha.
Yeah I like Dixie, it's much more personal and I've been told I can really rely on Gail to take good care of ponpon! Her stall is about the same size. It is a really cute spot! The rooster scared me haha I thought it was like..a decoy type thing and he moved and I almost jumped out of my skin.

Well, first of all you have to comprehend that arthritis is a secondary joint disease so you have to treat the origional cause in order for anything to be effective. (I know this because I have arthritis in my knee). So you're still on the hunt to see what else is wrong with her. I would not conclude on arthritis from a once-over, personally I would get some x-rays done. There is always a possibility the diagnosis is not correct, and if it's not and you start treating her for arthritis and it turns out to be something else then you've screwed yourself over. Glucosame IS one of the best things to have your horse on, but if you don't understand how it works then you can't possibly figure out how much or what kind to put her on. There is a suppliment called 'Corti-flex' that I have heard of being used for arthritis treatment. It had glucosamine, condriton, msm and HA. As well, regernerex. I would pick this over any supplement. It has MSM, glucosamine, calcium, magnesium ,boswellia, yucca and manganese in it www.canadapets.com/equine.regenerex.htmI would not go with the injections if they are cortisone based unless you do a LOT of research on them. Some kinds of cortisone injections can make the bone porous thus brittle. Personally I would go with Legend shots. "Legend is Hyaluronic acid. It is a form of glucosamine (basically) that will help to lubricate the joint. It is very expensive ($175 a shot) and can require a series of three but it will generally last a long time (a year). It sounds expensive but most of the good joint supplements will run you $50- $100 a month. The down side is if the arthritis is too advanced it probably won't do anything."

Onerider sells regenerex and recoverex. I think Robyn has Eve on one of them. You might consider asking her how she finds it.

Excellent, thankyou sarah!
Yeah I was talking to him about x-rays he said a technician will be in in a few weeks with an x-ray machine and he'd call me when it gets in.
Right now the Glucosamine she's on is the Equitek glucosamine plus, it has clucosamine, MSM and Chondritin in it.
Feel free to discuss glucosamine furtheeer!

Mel!! I know you love PINK (everyone knows you do!) so I searched until I found this pic of Prancer when she had long pink hair for a day!! And you asked if I uploaded any pics of her.... so here they are! Prancer, Halloween 2004 with her other leaser, Kelly, and some other kids: The "Multi Purpose Horse." ***though I wouldn't recommend doing this at home, folks. Sarah P, Sarah T, and Jess were all there and they saw her try to kill me again! She doesn't mind the harness, but the moment she heard that wagon rolling.... well, there's a reason why there's no pics of her pulling the cart! I don't want you to think that all I did was gallop Prancer in fields- it just turns out that there's always someone there with a camera when I am!! I love the way she looks in tall grass! And, me and Prancer with Jess and Champ, eating cheesies and chillin' out. Maria and Josie are there too- I guess someone had to take the photo! I'll put in the videos tomorrow when they finish uploading to You Tube

Kelly I love the pics and videos!! Well, guys I've had two rides on prancer since we moved to dixie, all walking just going through the walking stage right now(except when she takes it upon herself to trot). Next week I'll introduce trotting. She has a new cashel pad and her gramma is(well, might be) getting her a gel pad as a (very) early birthday gift). She's doing very, very well. I was told prancer would lose weight at Dixie(changing onto a different hay and coming off haystretch) but she hasn't! Anyway I'll be moving january 15th and then Kelly and Krys will be taking care of prancer while Im getting the barn up. Kelly will be grooming and spending time with her and krys will be riding her lightly!! Krys, I'll be expecting posts in here!!!!! Fuzzy will be coming home with me around jan 30th or early feburary, and prancer will be coming the next day. Becca Wells will be staying with me to take care of fuzzy while we're trailoring the girly. Well, guys, you'll probably be seeing me and fuzz in the showring next year if all goes well:D. ONce I get him i'll start a training log for him too. When my arena is done i'll be able to get a'working. I'll be making someone come out to teach us .
