i used to use it. to give people postive karma.
the only person i smite karma from was Becca wells. and thats because she made it her personal mission to take karma from me every hour.

i don't really mind it as i don't really care what others think, but i do agree, it is kind of pointless. and girls - don't be so upset about negative karma. people tend to be rather.. harsh and would much faster smite someone than exalt them. although lately i've seen people with rather high karma i've seen many more with low karma. and like someone mentioned - the people with the lowest karma are usually the ones with opinions that arent sugarcoated, or something along those lines. if it's that big a problem im sure Sarah, Sarah and Vicky would/or will get rid of it. until then just ingore it or deal with it ... remember there's lots of mean people out there but there is alot of nice ones too. also, you shouldn't judge someone if they have low karma. well.. that's my little input on this.

i don't really care what people think of me. i'm way past that point in my life. and a side note, i find it even more hilarious how yet another person smited me.
i'm just saying, if people just ignore it, then why have it there? this is the horse world. get real girls, the horse world is a vicious place. we all know that. why do we want to make it more vicious, especially in the hands of teenagers?

I find it funny because anyone who has an opinion about karma, which is about 95% of the posters, say that they think it's stupid and a popularity contest. The other 5% who don't have an opinion don't, from what I know, even use it. So... Who's doing all the smiting? I'd honestly like to know why it was even put here in the first place. I can't even think of a constructive way to use it, other than to make you feel better by smiting someone who's ticked you off. haha I totally agree...I wonder who is doing it? I use it once in a blue moon if someone makes a really really good post or whatever. Dont think I've ever hit the 'smite' one tho Prettttttttttttty funny. I'm with Chels tho, I dont care at all whether I have good karma or bad karma on NTR, I just find it amusing that people would go out of their way to 'smite' me or others

hahaha guys..don't lie. It's not hard for mods and admins to see who's smiting and exalting who... I'm glad you don't care, but i've always used karma as a way to see who's extremely bugging who and then confronts said members in attempts to keep peace on the forum. It's too hard to read every single post and moderate them accordingly, but these meters give me a better idea.
All of you are saying you don't care..so if you don't care, what's wrong with leaving it there?

Thats an interesting reason for using it. Here's my intial thoughts: You using it to monitor the Board WITHOUT our awareness is an invasion of our privacy. To suggest that it allows you to step in BEFORE trouble starts on the board leads me to ask how often have you had to use it for this purpose? I can totally see that you need to moderate comments on the Board to head off trouble but to "speak" to someone BEFORE they cause any outright problems on the board strikes me as unfair. Also the Karma meter is allowing folks to do just what you say you are trying to head off, it allows them to anonymously (to the rest of us) annoy the crap out of someone they may not agree with. Don't really care what you decide but it seems I doooo have an opinion on the matter after all (drat!). Good luck with all that, I'm just glad I'm not a monitor

I like it for the most part, but..I dont like when I see somebody's karma down to like -10 or more. It's not really..fair I guess. People are on here to learn, some people aren't as old as some of us, and aren't as experienced. Everybody has an opinion, like Chelsey said, it's the horse world and it's vicious, and thats why. Unless somebody says like.."I beat my horse"..I dont really think they should be -18 or -10 just for voicing their opinion.
That made no sense, but hopefully somebody gets something out of it.

In a way, it kind of smartens people up when they're karma goes down to like -20 something. I've found people alot more easier to get along with.

Hm, either I worded that wrong or you interpreted it wrong. I havn't 'spoken' to anyone without just reason, but as I said it is difficult to read every single post made a day. The karma meters show me who is 'annoying' who and then I can justly re-read the posts made by said person and see what's going on.
Edit: I really don't see how this is an 'invasion of privacy', if it could be justly considered that I don't think legalities would allow the people who run proboards45.com to have it on their forums.
I propose we have a vote. Thread locked, new thread up.
