Check the Buy & Sell, they usually have a few horses in there, reasonably priced (just be careful lol). I think SCS has some for sale? Call local barns, e-mail people. Check the bulletin boards at the Co-op, Cloverdale Tack and One Rider.
Keep us updated and good luck in your horse finding adventure!

This time of year everyone around NEwfoundland is selling off their horses because they can't afford to keep them for the winter. TRust me..i went horse shopping twice this time of year. BUt you can luck into something great.
I got all I ever wanted for $800. Find a pony or a horse from around the bay. I swear they are so quiet. All those Newfie men are nuts and they are loud and jumpy around their horses, when I'm around them they are so quiet cause they aren't used to people being so calm. And they are so willing to learn!! But look at Beau, I'll have had him 3 years this February. Gooooood luck!!!!!!

The most calm horses I have ever met are at Jigg's Farm, here in Botwood. I swear to god they are afraid of NOTHING. They're not expensive eaither. You should call Bev at 1-709-258-5535. She's hard to get ahold of, but good luck!
Just some examples; They're around tractors a lot so they're used to them, they get ridden through rivers, so they're not afraid of them, they have lots of different riders, so they're used to that, and they're used to other horses because they're always around other horses. They're used to different surroundings because they're always going around the island for festivals, and such. Good brood mares there too. Throw excellent foals, very well tempered. Mostly western, but can go english with a little work. I've seen what they can do they have potential.

Yeah the horse dealer I went too..his horses went through it all. I rode a 3 year old mare for the first time on a wooded snow covered trail and we got passed by so many skidoos, and I took her out on the road and the snow plough passed. Afraid of nothing. Same with Beau, he was used to it all but he was a lot crazier than Eve because he was mistreated before I got him off my ....dealer. Hhaha
