Well, today was the day that 8 of us have been waiting for for a long time...
We all chipped in and surprised Maggie Samms with a new saddle!!!
Congrats on your new saddle Maggie!! We all love you!! No one deserves it more!
Months ago, after seeing Maggie eye a saddle in the catalogue at the tack shop and say how much she'd like one like it....and thinking about the fact that although Maggie has a dozen horses she doesn't have her very own saddle...I suggested that it would be great if some of us chipped in and bought one for her for Christmas. Right away there were 8 eager people all wanting to join in. All of us are people that Maggie has helped so much over the years.
With lots of planning, organizing and quick thinking we even managed to get Maggie to try one of the saddles on her horse and and ride in it without her ever catching on to what we were doing.
Today, saying that "just a couple of us" wanted to go out for a Christmas lunch we all gathered at Jungle Jim's while the saddle hid in the next room on a rack. When Maggie got there, surprised to see all of us, we told her that several of us had chipped in to give her a present, then passed her a small wrapped box to open. It was a saddle cover....she thanked us and said it was great....to which I replied "We thought it might come in handy for this."...which is when the waitress rolled in the saddle.
Maggie was shocked and speechless and everyone laughed and cried. It was such a great moment. Everyone agrees that this was the best Christmas occasion ever (Christmas day won't even compete, lol).
Maggie is the best person in the world. So many of us owe so much to her...'bout time we did something in return. ;D
It was just so great that I had to share.
